I love almost all animals, but I grew up in a rural environment. As far as actually having one for a pet though, I never had one until 2 yrs ago. Someone dumped a black cat off in the neighborhood right after Halloween was over. It was either keep it or turn it in to be euthanized if she wasn't adopted in a certain time, so I ending up keeping her. She doesn't act like a cat at all, more like a dog. She'll do certain dog tricks on command, plays fetch, will walk with me, plays good with the kids that I babysit. She doesn't like adult males at all except for one, the Vet thinks that she might've been a victim of abuse. I don't think that makes me fit the stereotype, because I never sought her out, and I'm not getting another one after she's gone, but I'm glad she's with me.
Every lesbian I talk to has at least three cats, with very little exception. I had five up until yesterday... my oldest gal passed away. I think it's because they are easy to take care of and clean themselves. Really, you just pet them and give them food/water and clean the litter. They don't need much. I am a dog person, though. I love how smart dogs are.
I have a cat, and she's plenty, no need for more than one. She's a small tortoiseshell short hair and has been a good little friend. She was born to two feral cats so she, despite our best efforts in socialization, only trusts 3 people. She loves us to death but will hiss, meow and bite new people.
I know where it comes from remember when you were a little girl and people said if you didn't do such and such you'll end up like a lonely lady with just cats . So people think because lesbians don't want men and aren't attracted to men that we'll end up owning cats . Think lonely cat lady that owns ten cats ,we actually had a lady like that in my town .People made fun or her . Also I hear the stereotype that we like cats and yes I'm a lesbian that likes kittens and cats , but I also love dogs and some one told me I'm probably bi because I like dogs and cats because lesbians only like cats .
Well, we have two of them. Never will own a dog again..... How about Crock pots anyone? Never had one or used on until my Butch wife demanded we get a few! LOL
The lady who runs the dog groomer underneath my apartment is openly gay. She's not a cat groomer. Stereotype blown.
I'm not really sure where it started. Personally I'm an animal lover so I like cats, along with pretty much every other animal.
I have to agree. Personally, I love cats. I am not getting into stereotypes. Speaking about all women. I heard somewhere that cats are like women - soft, a bit arrogant, silent, elegant... and dogs are like men - strong, reliable, friendly...faithful. I think it's bullsh*t but, some people believe it's truth.
I worship pussies! My parent's would've had been relieved to hear this but too bad its not the same in Arabic
I have heard guys say to me that boys are like dogs and girls like cats. Apparently, cats are more feminine. Maybe that's where it came from. However, for the record, I am not a fan of cats and I am a lesbian.
Dogs are more like lesbians, in my opinion. Beautiful, strong, smart, protective, tons of varieties.... Cats sleep a lot, like to slap with their hands in a fight, have really bad breath that they hiss at you, think they're better than everyone, walk all over you.... Cats are straight girl crushes.
