My roommate. We were at a dinner where they were talking about asexuality and he noticed that my expression had changed and then I said, "That's me?!?". It then took another month before I told anyone else. The next person that I told a friend from class, but she had already picked up on it, so it was not a surprise. And then I outed myself on facebook a couple weeks later. I was not ready, but it happened and I can't turn the clock back now.

My older brother, he is only a year older than me and my best friend. .. turned out he had figured it out on his own though. About a year before I even told him he went searching through my room for some new porn (we cant have tv's; or computers in our rooms and our cell phones have to stay in the kitchen at night time so I, and I guess my brother too resorts to old school magazines) so he went looking for some new stuff. .. and he found some, wasnt exactly what he had been expecting but he didn't say anything to anyone abd only told me about this when I finally came out to him! But he wad support supportive

My closest friend, I knew she'd be cool with it because one of our other friends is bisexual and we're all still besties so I knew I could come out to them. :icon_bigg

My friend, and it wasn't much of a choice because he asked me. I knew he wouldn't mind so I was never worried about it. Now he seems to be questioning his own sexuality hehehe

as you can see lots of people came out to their best friends first and so did i. i came out to my three best friends telling them i'm bisexual(well thats what i thought i was at first). later when i realised i was gay, i updated it on a social media web site  (i know that was gutsy lol) but i think the wise action would be to tell people in person or only tell those people who are asking(that also means you're open) because after that update not me but my friends and family were always questioned by people about my sexuality, it bothered them and also me.

I never really hid it from most of my close family. The first person I really came out to was my best friend, too. I got hyped up on caffeine, and ended up commenting on a girl that walked by ("LOOK at dat ass" was what came out of my mouth, after said girl was out of earshot). My friend was shocked to say the least, but I bought her a soda and we moved on. She was fine with it once I established that I was indeed not crushing on her.

My friend. I had been meaning to come out to her for a few months. I honestly thought she thought I was gay, but apparently she was into me and I was leading her on (I'm so oblivious). So I told her online. I would have died doing it face to face - even doing it online I was shaking and as soon as I typed that sentence, "I'm gay," (I couldn't even type it properly, I had to type "I'm gayy"), I ran to the next room to watch TV and calm down.
Of course, she was completely supportive (after being disbelieving at first) - I knew she would be. That was high school, and I'm still only out to two people from home.

In university, though, I'm completely out thank goodness. I vowed to myself that I would be out in college, but I was afraid I'd back out (I feel so awkward bringing it up...) But with the help of alcohol, all my friend were informed... heh. (Of course drunk coming out is often not the best solution - but honestly it helped so much for me because I was so uninhibited and I already knew everyone would be completely accepting, I was just too inhibited and reserved sober and afraid of awkward insertion of the fact that I'm gay into conversation) Basically we were all drunk and someone flat out asked me if I was gay, and I simply (drunkenly) replied, "yeahhh!". Is it bad that I'm advocating the use of alcohol...

Though I did manage to somehow come out to some of my friends here without alcohol; I just basically implied my homosexuality - e.g. saying I had to go to a (insert LGBT organization name) meeting, etc. So that works if you don't want to rely on alcohol.

  13. I just jokingly told my step-dad and a friend of my brother's that I like chicks.

I'm serious. I said it just like that. Even though I was trying to joke, I knew what I was saying was true. And I think it was after a party too... Maybe I'd been drinking vodka?

My American friend because shes far away lol. It was partly that, partly because we get each other and mostly because she guessed and was like I thought you were kinda into guys and i was like well yeah.

Basically my entire school at once--not exactly on purpose but once they knew I made a big public point of it as a way of dealing with it. Didn't come out to my family until I brought my first girlfriend home and let them figure it out for themselves.

My best friend. I was nervous all day and I felt like I was going to throw up or have a panic attack, but I did it and cried and hugged her and we were okay and I feel a million times better even though I'm not completely sure what I am. It's like telling her bought me some time to explore who I might be with a confidante.

Well, the first person Ii came out to was a really close friend - like a sister to me - via IM while I was pretending to watch the super bowl. In person, though? A friend of mine from High school - I pulled him aside and asked how he'd known he was gay, and then spent a good half hour babbling. Then he hugged me and made me laugh, and yeah. It was great.
