"How do you get past procrastination?"

    I'll tell you later.....

Seriously though, this is something that continue to afflict me to this day(right now in fact) but I guess the best advice I can give is limit distractions(hard with the internet, I know). I've learned the hard way that no matter how long you procrastinate, the deadlines don't change.

Ok so I'm going to share with you something I heard from a particular person who has motivated me in life.

There is no such thing as procrastination. It doesn't exist. Simple as that. If I told you to meet me tomorrow at 6am, so I can give you $2 million, what would you do? You'd be there at 6am.

That's how you need to view your goals. You need to see whatever it is you have to do, as being so important, so life changing that you cannot miss doing them. You need to want it so badly that you don't need sleep. Make those things, whatever they are, important to you. No matter how small they are in the grand scale.

I hope that makes sense to you and is of some small measure of help.

Split your tasks into small segments. If all the segments seem to hard to do, split them again, and keep splitting until a segment is so small and easy, you have absolutely no reason not to do it. Then, work your way up.

Also, do the hardest things earlier in the morning, when you have more motivation, leaving the easiest things to the afternoon and evening when you have less motivation. The problem with leaving thins later is that it is very easy to say to yourself you'll do it tomorrow, and then "tomorrow" becomes next week, etc.

I don't use a schedule; instead, I structure my procrastination. I make a mental list of things I need to do, but at the top I put big things which aren't urgent (e.g. "learn a language"), and then I procrastinate on those things by doing the things I should actually do.

I used to struggle with this. My suggestion to you (which may have already been said coz I haven't read the whole thread!) is to have goals, both long and short term. So your long term goal is the career you want, a medium term goal might be to get a certain grade in an upcoming test and a short term goal could be to study for an hour today. Take breaks fairly often too. I take a 10 minute break every hour and I find the day flies by. Also I read an article on developing a work ethic recently and it suggested to repeat "do it now, do it right" whenever you feel like procrastinating or not making an effort with something you need to do which I've found useful. Maybe you will too

I wish I knew, haha. I find keeping a list of reminders helps.
