Hugs, anyone?

The last hug I got was today; several of them in fact. I have a (straight) friend who hugs me every time we meet and when we separate. Not one of those phony social hugs that they do in some countries similar to hand shaking, but a real squeeze, head against shoulder sort of "glad you are my friend" kind of hug, in public and in the presence of his girlfriend. I treasure them, and him. Wish all my friends would feel comfortable enough to do the same thing.

Most men are afraid to touch each other. Afraid of being thought to be gay. Afraid to be vulnerable. Afraid of getting that close to another man. They don't know what they are missing, and there is nothing "sexual" about it. Emotional, but not sexual. I include the picture below, and quote Frank Herbert from 'Dune', "Fear is the mind killer".

I got a couple of hugs today. Maybe it's because I'm in college or something but most of the people I talk to at school all give me a hug when they first see me or when we are saying goodbye.

 

The last hug I got was when it was forced on me by an acquaintance as a greeting. I really hate giving hugs. My family jokes about how I lean away from them when they hug me. I just like my personal space.

 

I am a touchy-feely-huggy-hand holding kind of person and so is everyone in my house. I hugged both my kid and hubby a couple hours ago and gave the kid's hand a squeeze (currently trapped under sleeping dog so could not hug) about fifteen minutes ago. Getting off the computer soon and going to my room where I will cuddle with the kiddo while we read together before bed. LOL - Love hugs and cuddles.

 

I'm not a touchy-feely person--at all, but growing up my dad's side of the family was super huggy-kissy, and my main group of friends since middle school has always hugged as just a normal way of saying hello/goodbye, so I've hugged three people today alone.

I guess it's a cultural thing. I used to hate it, but now, if it's from a good friend, it's truly quite comforting.

well with all seriousness though, i got tons of virtual hugs from The Nicest Place on the Inernet and i couldn't help but shed real tears.

i had physically and personally hugged my guy cousin 2 years older than me way back in 2009.
that's it.

3 years ago maybe? Now I feel bad.

 

Um... about six months ago. Apart from this one girl who's my best friend who I see every few months, years and years. About ten.

 

When did I last get a hug? A proper one would probably be about some years ago. An awkward, half-hearted one would be a few days ago...when I was forced into it.

 

Well my straight mask saying "no hugs", but I would really love to hug people ... so I need an LGTB person RL friend, and THEN I could hug!

I could really use a hug right now. I woke up grumpy and everyone else is still sacked out. LOL Night owls in my house. I, unfortunately, never get to sleep in because when I do I get to spend at least an hour cleaning up after the dogs. They give me until a certain time of morning to get them out. Anything beyond that and someone springs a leak. Trust me an 85 pound dog springing a leak from either outlet is a HUGE mess. Gonna wake the kid up early today and when she gets over the sleepy-grouchies I'm gonna get me a cuddle.
