No place on that poll for me.
Anarchist, radical communitarian. "Nothing about us, without us!"
No such thing as a good 'leader.'

Sorry this reply is so late :astonished: but I think I'm for not necessarily a more nationalized system, just a more regulated one. ACA isn't the answer for too many reasons to count. But also, control of our health care has gone to the insurance companies, and that's not cool. I'd like it if the govt. could put the screws to them to make sure we are not being price-gouged both at the hospital and in insurance premiums for simple stuff.

This is where Americans get politics all wrong... Parties are not defined by the individuals who vote for them, but by the dominant positions they stand for. You could have an environmentally friendly, queer pro-choice Republican, and the party would STILL be homophobic, destructive to the environment and all that. The Republican party (really not that much different than Dems--both bought and owned by the corporate elite), is all the above.

Pointing out that there are good republicans, like pointing out that there are good cops. Yes there are. But that doesn't change either the policies of the Republicans, or the purpose of the police--which is to defend and maintain the orderly transfer of money from everyone else, to the wealthy elite in a fascist police state.

And no, I'm not exaggerating. We're 30 plus years into a coup, a takeover by the government by a tiny oligarchy that runs the corporations and makes sure the government serves their interests, and not the people.

I'm fiscally conservative, but for most social issues I am liberal. That's why political parties bug me

I'd consider myself to be very socially liberal and fiscally moderate or center-left.

If that's true, certainly demonstrates something terribly wrong with how economics is taught in this country.

The age of zombie capitalism... capitalists consuming their own brains.

I definitely agree here. I admit I'm not as fully versed with the whole Obamacare thing as I probably should be, but I know enough. And I know that it's completely true that our health care is being controlled by insurance companies and that's just not right at all. I'm one of the lucky ones, in regards to what my insurance covers, but I've still done plenty of headdesking over the entire ordeal.

I took Skaros's linked quiz from the first page (and was kinda creeped that the page apparently detects where I live, 'cause they gave me questions specific to Arizona). Apparently I side 86% with the Green Party? Huh. That's... interesting.

    *shrugs* Poll-wise it's basically left.

I see politics as a bunch of unnecessary strutting about by a flock of pretentious peacocks.
I believe that I can say with some amount of credibility that most individuals holding elected office use their power primarily for the benefit of themselves and or their affiliates, rather than there constituents.

I am what is described as a social democrat.

To be specific, I am a social democrat in the original sense of the term - I do not subscribe to the new "social democracy" espoused by people like Tony Blair. That may be a "Third Way", but it is closer to contemporary forms of liberalism rather than social democratic politics.

Here's a rather nice little video explaining the basics of social democracy:
What is Social Democracy? - YouTube

I will further make the distinction that I am not a democratic socialist - the two terms are often used interchangeably rather erroneously. I believe that a capitalist system can be reformed over a long time period through social democracy, as opposed to advocating for the overthrow of such a system right away in favour of a completely socialist system.
