I don't really have LGTB 'heroes', every LGTB person that comes out gets my appreciation! But how come no one mention george michael, AKA the-only-guy-who-can-cover-"somebody to love" ? :O
Yea I was surprised to see that Ellen wasn't one of the first people people mentioned. I instantly thought of her as soon as I saw this thread because she was someone I admired even before I admitted to myself that I was a lesbian. She is a really big hero of mine. I love Ellen.
To be honest, there are a few listed that I forgot. Alan Turing, Ellen DeGeneres (I love that name, it sounds like "Ellen, the generous", which she is), and Tchaikovsky are the big 3.
Whaaaaaat?! I'm a fan of his and I haven't heard about this. :O Please tell me more. As for my heroes, I'm a big Eddie Izzard fan. He and my mum went to school with him and he's generally just really awesome. Whilst its kinda minor, I love Maddie Blaustein. She's dead now, but she's a trans woman who was very involved with my childhood. She voiced Meowth in the Pokemon anime. My favourite character ^^
what is wrong with me....how did I ever forget Eddie Have you ever seen the one season show The Riches? Foxface
I've got to say Sir Ian Mckellen for sure, Stephen Fry, George Takei, Oscar Wilde, Wentworth Miller, among others I'm probably forgetting for the moment :/
Yup, he's bi. I remember a post about it from him (don't remember where). I found this out through Kaiser's formspring a few years ago, when he was asked if he was the only gay abridger. I'm also currently looking at a tweet by LK saying he's bi. So yeah, he's married to Marrianne Miller, who's obviously perfect for him. And yet, he's bi.
Ellen Frank ocean(expresses through some songs such as forest gump) Raven Symone M'shell Ngdecello (i may have spelled her name wrong!) ---------- Post added 14th Jan 2014 at 01:35 AM ---------- Also, Some of my friends lady gaga Angelina jolie langston Hughes p!nk wanda sykes and others!
I'm honestly shocked that Bayard Rustin hasn't made anyone's list yet. He's one of my personal heroes. MLK wouldn't have been half the man that he ultimately became without him, and the civil rights movement owes him a great debt as does every American. No hero but I really admire Marc Jacob. Really enjoy his work and street appeal. One of the few that dress how he designs.
Me too. Have you watched any of her sitcom from the 90s? I started with episode where her character came out (late season four) and am working my way to the end (season five).
