I use to hate steam. When it first came out, it felt like nothing but a really annoying barrier to playing half life 2. It has grown on me over time though. Now I have over 50 games on it. Not too many AAA or really new games though. My computer can't handle them. I play Lots of smaller indy games. That is where the fun is at.
Nope. When you buy or are gifted a game, it's tied to your account which is on Valve's servers and doesn't take of a byte of space. The only games actually on your computer are the ones you choose download. It was pretty annoying and buggy, but it's become an amazingly useful program over the years.
I've had it for 5 years, and at this point I have almost 60 games in my library. Of course, it's all thanks to their sales. And they have sooo many games to choose from. Like I said I own 60ish, there are another 20+ on my wishlist and I seem to add more all the time.
"I've had it for 5 years, and at this point I have almost 60 games in my library." You seem to be blessed with more sense than money How I envy you. I have over 500 games...and no money!
I like the summer/christmas etc. sales. Currently I've got Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis, Kerbal Space Program, Portal 1 and 2, CIV5 and SimCity 4 on steam. I'd only wish there were a few more old (windows7+ compatible) games for sale, like rollercoaster tycoon, anno 1602 and such.
Been a Steam member for 9 years now, since Half Life 2 was released. I've got 239 games, 91 installed, and about half are completely unplayed...that's what I get for buying a lot of bundles over the last year. They have Anno 1404 and Anno 2070, both of which work on Win7. I get on with Anno 1404 but really didn't like 2070. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum is also available (It's actually half price atm £14.99 down to £7.49). But then, none of these games are like their older siblings, though RCT3 is pretty good and IMO a lot better than 2, its not 1 but that could be nostalgia speaking.
i downloaded steam about a year ago, and I have completely switched from console to PC gaming. I bought a wired xbox controller so i can play on Steam! The sales a fantastic, i bought the bioshock infiinte, tombraider (the newest one), RE6 and a few other 2013 titles for only $10 each. That's hard to beat for brand new titles But as someone else said.. these sales are killing my wallet!
I had to install it a while ago when I bought retail copies of Empire and Napoleon Total War, and later Skyrim. At first I thought it was a load of bullshit, because I didn't have internet access on my gaming computer and therefore could not play the games I paid for. Later, when I moved back to California, Steam grew on me, as I now have a regular internet connection. Steam sales are a wonderful thing. A while ago, I picked up both Left 4 Dead games and the Skyrim DLC. This season, I picked up all the Railroad Tycoon games, Company of Heroes + DLC, GTA San Andreas, Civilization 3, and both Dead Island games with all DLC.
I got it when I bought Skyrim. Since then, it's the only place I buy my games. I currently have 41 games in my library, though only 21 are actually installed on my computer. Oh Steam sales, how you torture my poor wallet!
you are unbeatable crimson! i only have 48 games in my library and I try very hard to restrain myself from buying more! I haven't even played half the games in my library yet and I keep wanting to buy more
