    I'm a nerd. I'm skinny, wear glasses (sometimes), know far too much about fictional universes, have an active interest in science/academia, and engage in hobbies some people would find lame and maybe insufferable. But nerds have gained a lot of power and respect recently, so I don't feel so bad. :slight_smile:

    I'm a scientist, so I'm a nerd, but I consider myself to have good social skills. This is a great article on the subject (it's hilarious that my major, biochemistry, is one of the most nerdy and least geeky words):

    In terms of attraction, I lean toward those who are kind of like myself and not too stringent/arrogant in their viewpoints, something that a lot of nerdy/geeky people are susceptible to.

    In grad school... I think that qualifies me as some kind of a nerd. But I think my style is more sloppy preppy... something that says I care a bit about fashion... just not enough. In any case, for me, I prefer people who are smart but not stuffy.

    By nerdy I mean someone that is kind of shy and fond of anime and manga and will play video games with me. Those 'hot' nerdy guys just usually wear the hipster glasses for the look and aren't actual nerds.
