Does anyone else feel nothing for the country they grew up in?

I don't have any affinity for the US, but I'm glad I'm here and not somewhere else. It could always be worse.

I sort of have a conflicted relationship with the country I grew up in, I love it's incredibly deep, rich history and culture, and its literary tradition is one of the most sophisticated I know. However, the country itself, it's politics and the way people treat each other and the environment frankly disgusts me.

I'm English, born and bred. I'm happy here, but wouldn't say I'm proud of being British or anything. I know we're very lucky here, but still, there is a lot not right.

I now view myself as a guy without a country. I was adopted into the US, so I can happily say other than residence - the US is not my country. I just believe in what the US should have been and could have been before it became what it is today.
