Napoleon Dynamite. And dare I say it... Brokeback Mountain. Game of Thrones is an interesting one for me. It pisses me off enough that I can't watch it, what with the constant sex, and that the only suspense or surprises are in where it diverges from the books... but if you're someone who doesn't know everything that's going to happen, I can see how people would like it.
I definitely think Napoleon Dynamite was overrated... I also thought, don't kill me, Fight Club was a little overrated too... It made no sense and I don't see why a lot of people I know will watch it over and over.
Books: Only one that stands out is Catcher in the Rye. It was literally the worst book I've ever read. I only read it because I had to for school. Actually, make that two. The same goes for The Great Gatsby. Even after the whole thing in school I still have zero idea what it was about other than some guy throwing a party. I got all As on almost every test I took in High School, (which is how I graduated, considering I did zero homework. So I had Ds in almost every class. My teachers hated me and constantly gave me "The Talk" about how I'm wasting my life by not being the most I can be, etc.), but for The Great Gatsby, I think I got a C. I just could not for the life of me deal with it. I got an F on the Shakespeare portion as well, had to take summer school for the only time that year, because the teacher pissed me off so much after a certain point I even stopped taking the tests. He did things I think she have gotten him fired to me (nothing bad/illegal, just extremely rude, and it wasn't a secret. Like asking the entire class while I was out one day if they thought I was suicidal, homocidal, or if anyone knew if my mom beat me.) My friends told me when I got back, and after that point, I refused to do anything in his class. -.- And Shakespeare was just so dull I just had zero interest. So in short, The Catcher in the Rye, The Great Gatsby, and anything Shakespeare. TV: Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, etc. WAY too many movies to list.
Errm... The wind in the willows. 'its a classic'. For me it had too much detail about how mole (or whatever it was) get out of its house
I agree 100%! I could never see what made them so much better than so many other far better 'young Adult' books; the writing style certainly is nothing special, in terms of craftsmanship. I felt the whole series and franchise draggon on needlessly to milk as much cash from the public as possible. Also over-rated: The new Hobbit series.
Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, Twilight Books: 90% of things by Stephan King. Cardboard characters, some OK ideas, though.
Aw, I like to exaggerate! I suppose it's mainly just not really my style. I like his early short stories the best.
Film: Hunger Games. The book was great but I didn't enjoy the film. TV: Full House. Books: Friedrich. This book had bland characters and went through every Holocaust cliche I can think of.
It was o.k. i read it before it was popular (Hunger Games) if you want a really good survival stories, read The Enemy series by John Higginson, it's about kids fighting off zombie adults as they are 16 and older, it's really good as they are young and are in london, it's compelling and thrilling. ---------- Post added 15th Aug 2013 at 07:28 PM ---------- Survival Series
