I live in the right-wing state of Texas. As you may presume I am a liberal and proud of it. Every time it looks like same sex couple marriage act will be placed on the ballot it gets defeated. My question is: DO YOU THINK TEXAS WILL EVERY HONOR SAME SEX MARRIAGES?

Eventually, everywhere will legalise it. But you'd be better off moving if you want to marry.

I figure it will be one of the last states to legalize gay marriage, but I think eventually they will.

If the Supreme Court would rule on it, then yes, eventually it will be legal from Alaska to Florida, and from Maine to Hawaii.

Voluntarily? Maybe, but not for a longgggggggg time. I'd imagine that there will be a Supreme Court ruling forcing Texas to recognize it before they do it via ballot or legislation.

No! I hear they are really homophobic people living there. You will get beat up and no one will care.

I think it is inevitable and it will probably become a reality within the next 10 years. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the supreme court has to step in and make it happen.

I wouldn't be surprised if Louisiana were to legalize it AFTER Texas.

You know I don't know. There are a lot of people unhappy with the current good 'ol boy, scared of change, conservative politics we currently have in Texas.

With Ricky Perry not running again in 2014 I have a cautious optimism that things might change.

As the rate that Texas is gaining more liberal/democratic support, it could be ever so slightly possible. The best chance for Texas though, is a broad ruling from the Supreme Court that would legalize it in all fifty states. One of my mother's old high school friends lives in Texas and was married to his husband in Massachusetts in 2004, and they have two children, so it would be nice if the state he lived in recognized his marriage. Missouri might be opening up to some kind of bill or ballot measure that would at least grant civil unions (64% support), so that's a start for my home state

Wendy Davis for TX Gov., anyone?

Yeah, this belongs in the chit-chat section or one of the support sections, doesn't it?

Also, I'm sure it'll happen. Just don't expect it in the next 15 years.
