So today I went to a thrift store with my mom to get me some vinyl for my record player that's coming tomorrow of the day after, and well the haul consists of; Evita(original broadway cast recording) (1976) Jesus Christ Superstar(original broadway recording) (October 1970)-one of the first, if not the first release. & Cabaret, 1972, also one of the earliest release. Total investment; $5.32
Nice! I recently got some from a family member. The Dark Side of the Moon-Pink Floyd Led Zeppelin IV News of the World-Queen (I think that's what it's called)
:jawdrop: I need those! My mom found George Harrison's All Things Must Pass at a yard sale last week. I only need a few more and then I'll have all of the '70s Beatles solo albums. A few days ago my uncle told me that he had a box of Rush, Yes, and Pink Floyd albums that he gave to someone else :tears:.
I had a friend that smoked weed & would listen to Dark Side of The Moon, he said "it was a classic song to listen to when stoned", apparently Lol
This photo might help you remember what a record player is, Dublin Boy. I just love the way this place uses "only" when stating the price... Clearaudio Statement Turntable
That looks more like something you use to cut cheese or something ---------- Post added 23rd Jul 2013 at 02:06 PM ---------- Duh, it's Pink Floyd :icon_wink
Yesterday I bought 12x5 by the Rolling Stones. It's so sick! About a week before that, I got Donovan's Greatest Hits, and I really like that one too.
I have a bizarre focus for my vinyl collection. It's all instrumental, and nearly all of it is on 45. (That's those 7-inch records which in the US have the large holes in them.) In addition to me simply loving the music, I've been fortunate that the vinyl resurgence seems mainly focused on LPs - 45s are usually still pretty cheap, even for fairly rare items. I've got about 400 45s in this collection, and I've got about 200 on my "want list". There are two that I've tried to get on eBay that keep slipping through my fingers - both tend to go for over $100, and I'm not paying that much. My favorite one? Probably this. A short slab of killer jazz-funk. Lex
My dad has both in his LP collection, which is freaking huge btw. I asked him recently if I could have his old record player from the 70's and awesome as he is he gave it to me. I'll have to borrow some of his records though since I really can't afford to buy any LP's. The ones I want are all freakin expensive. I'm at least buying MGMT's congratulations vinyl later this week. Gonna be sweet.
I have a couple of LP's and a poor record player that's almost unusable. I really like the sound though and although I haven't gotten a good chance to listen to them, they seem to sound a lot better. Plus they are prettier
Wish I could afford a record player. I have sold a bit of vinyl online, and am glad to see people on here are into it as well. Sound is different; though I prefer digital, and just unique. Right now I am in possession of 15 different vinyl, but they're all listed online so I'll never listen to it. Keep on listening to LP's, I hope to get a turntable one day so I can play some vinyl.
They don't have to be expensive! I bought mine for €10 in a second hand shop. It wasn't perfect and just to be sure I didn't screw up my LPs I bought a new needle for it, works like a charm now.
