so, normally people probably wouldn't have a problem if they had my name, but being a gay atheist, the name christian is just very unfortunate. :frowning2:

is anybody else dissatisfied with their name?

Names aren't definitions. But my name (Dicky) is surprisingly appropriate for me

I like the name Christian. I'm known a lot of nice guys with that name.

Most names have backgrounds that don't apply to us personally. You have no reason not to love your's because of its origin.

A name is just that a name. Just because you happen to have a name that is also one of a religious person doesn't mean its bad necessarily.

I have a love/hate relationship with my last name. It sounds cool..... when it's pronounced correctly and people have an amazing variety of ways to pronounce it, some people even try to say it with an accent.

I think my name sounds nice, but its extremelly common in the hispanic world. Therefore, I would prefer if I had been baptized in a more unique way.

Hint: Its the name of a really famous Latin American writer.

Down here in the South, a lot of guys will go by their middle name if they don't like their first name. They just use their middle initial and then their middle name on semi-formal things like name badges or offices or the like.

Do you actually go by/get called 'Christian' all that much or is it more often 'Chris'?

If you push the shorter form or use of your middle name when you get older/out on your own, you can pretty much make your first name almost nonexistent.

For that matter, once you're on your own you could go so far as to legally change it, although that may be more hoop jumping than you want to go through.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

But even considering its meaning, Christian is a nice name.

I hate my name. its too unique so no one spells it right and in 7th grade it brought me a lot of harassment.

I am not particularly fond of my name. I don't hate it in and of itself, I just don't like going by it at all.

Christian is a nice name, even if it is a bit oxymoronic. I like my name, and it's simple, but people often misspell it, because of the alternatives. I also like that my name's sufficiently Germanic to be relatively uncommon in Australia.

If it makes you feel better... I have two first names, two middle names, and a last name.

It's a random collection of family names... they flow... but seriously... my business card looks like the freaking off sping of three men.

I feel you. But I like the name.

Fond of my name. But I picked it after all. So I did name myself after a Pokemon gym leader I'll admit but I liked the name. (Byron, btw)

I'm also an atheist with a biblical name, it isn't so bad  Names are just an arbitrary, convenient method of identification, they don't say anything about you as a person!
