My favourite genre is metal, closely followed by punk and rock. I like almost all kinds of metal. Slipknot, Rotting Christ, Septic Flesh, Rammstein, Iced Earth, Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, System Of A Down, Kamelot, Black Sabbath and Korn are just some examples.
Oh come on, how are Enter Shikari metal?! They were my ultimate guilty pleasure way back. I used to listen to way more heavier stuff then. I still listen to Converge and the Dillinger Escape Plan sometimes. Brontide and Blakfish are about as heavy as indie rock gets. I'm not sure if any would actually qualify as metal though.
Not really a metal fan but it is funny how people assume gay people like girly music. All that media exposure with Madonna obsessed gay fans and Lady Gaga, are the cause most likely. I think that a lot of gay people not liking certain genres that may perpetuate homophobia like certain reggae and hip hop makes sense though. Though these are my favourite two genres, I sometimes find myself wondering how the artists I like would react to knowing they have gay fans; most aren't homophobic. There are a few youtube videos of black girls that like metal, and that is definately a thing that makes people turn their heads, because everyone assumes black people only like music created by black people; jazz, rock steady, hip-hop...etc. But everyone defies stereotypes. I think the black community put the most pressure on black people to not listen to music made by white people. All I godda say is Jimi Hendrix.
Enter Shikari are super tr00 metal. But more important: they're good. Guilty pleasure or not. Oh Blakfish. Been a while since I last listened to them :surprised And speaking of Brontide – I think Rolo Tomassi could be considered pretty metal.
Would anyone consider In This Moment metal? I like harder stuff with female singers but softer male voices. My friends haaaaate that I listen to ITM so when they make me mad I blast it and ignore them.
They are! I just listened to 'Take To The Skies' for the first time for two years according to my iTunes. Still super fun.

Metal is love, metal is life. I wish I was going to a show/concert, that's one life experience I haven't had yet. Most of the bands I listen to probably fit more under hard rock/nu metal spectrum. Regardless, metal is awesome. I also like some punk and electronic music. I keep off the "metalcore" genre, but I do make exceptions. I've also started listening to Death Metal/core again. Bands I generally enjoy/listen to frequently: System of a Down, 5FDP, Pantera, Bullet For My Valentine, Halestorm, Rise Against, Disturbed, Slipknot, Green Day, Rammstein, Oomph!, Hollywood Undead, Tool, Breaking Benjamin... the list goes on. Bands I used to enjoy (mostly death metal/core) or just don't listen to frequently (but are still awesome): Suicide Silence, Whitechapel, Molotov Solution, Vader, & Job For a Cowboy. Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Paramore, Fit For Rivals, Slayer
I'm not a metal fan, but instead I like things such as Evanescence and Flyleaf. Also Paramore. And Three Days Grace.
When I came out people weren't really suprised they all kinda thought it because of the music I like. Older Metallica, some Iron maiden. Not sure if you would could old Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolvers or Alice Cooper is metal.
