DOMA being struck down is great news for binational couples. Now the partners don't need to separate from one another all the time, or even worse, leave the U.S. altogether, to avoid deportation issues. As someone from the article said, same-sex couples no longer have to choose between their country and their loved one; now they have the best of both worlds. I'm happy for those 26,000 couples

those comments. i hope they are trolls... but gah, so hateful

also, why do I think that the job market is going to be tougher in US now?

if there's more people immigrating, the unemployment rate might go up again?

I have to say, I'm very worried about the job market, but I'm glad binational couples are able to be together now. We'll just have to see how this pans out.

...why are people saying they're worried about the job market.

They said the figures were approx. 26,000 same-sex couples where 1 is a US citizen and 1 isn't.

That's ALL. Not all that are applying for green cards, not all that are married or considering marriage. All.

So it's a percentage of the 26,000 that will be applying for green cards.

Considering how many cities there are here, it will have little to no impact on the job market.

He lives in Northern Ireland :/ Yeah, it's pretty sad whenever I link one of the articles about his country, and he's all "yeah, I remember seeing that" He's also said he feels guilty about not doing as much to support gay rights as I do (such as buying bracelets and getting HRC stuff), but frankly I would think it's better so that he's not thoroughly beaten.
