Is anyone else going to see Baz Luherman's The Great Gatsby this weekend?
I've managed to organize a little outing with a coupla friends for it.

(And re-read the book, then listened to it on Audiobook while working, and other plans...)

It looks pretty spiffy but I hate all of the actors.

I really can't wait to see it, I have to wait for the DVD though, don't fancy watching it in Spanish. Carey Mulligan movies are always great. The soundtrack is incredible too and I partly just want to go because of that.

So, I've now made two seperate plans for this weekend. -,- I see no problem with watching it twice. And one of them will be at a nice Theater with a full service bar, so there's that too.
(Let's watch a movie about decadence and the Roaring 20s and etcetera while drinking ^.^)

It kind of looks good and kind of doesn't.. I have mixed feelings about it.
It's probably one of those I'll wait to see when it comes out on DVD.

Man, I thought I was the only one excited about this. It's one of my fav classics. Saw the original movie as well. Loved it. And want to see this one. But its hard for me to find time to go to the theatre so I will most like wait and netflix it. ENJOY!!

  13. Love the book, and I was going to go see it but I realized it was the same guy who made Romeo + Juliet which I absolutely HATED so...I'll be skipping this one.

    F. Scott Fitzgerald is sooooooooooooooo boring. I tried to read Babylon Revisited last week. Tried.

I fucking hated the book with a passion, but the movie looks really swanky and cool. Maybe it's because of Leo Dicaprio, but the movie looks really awesome. I really hope that they have some music from around that time period, because that would be so cool.

I'm with Santaberry. I really don't like the actors in it, especially DiCaprio (and I don't even know why I dislike him).

I will probably still watch it when it comes out on DVD, though.

edit: I listened to previews of the music on amazon. I was not impressed?

The book is cool as fuck, but I've heard the film is awful.

I'm trying to decide whether to go and see it or not. I have the book sitting on a shelf somewhere but I've never actually gotten down to reading it lol. I'm worried that seeing the film will ruin any chance of me enjoying the book, especially as it looks like the film could go either way (i.e. be a run-away success or bomb horribly). That being said, it's hard to turn down Leonardo DiCaprio

I say, read the book(Or listen to an audiobook narration of it; Jake Gyllenhall made one of it recently *swoon*) It's a /really/ good book. The movie is definitely on the fence for most. But don't let however it feels impact the book. It's by and far Fitzgerald's best work. (And in my opinion, one of the best books made in the United States)
