I'd give the Hobbit 1 Thumb Up (3 Stars out of 4). It was good, but not nearly as good as its predecessors. The problem is that they've taken a short book and turned it into three lengthy movies. Which means each one is going to be excessively grandiose. Nonetheless, I did enjoy seeing Tolkien's work brought to life on the screen. There were a couple cinematic choices I didn't agree with, but nothing major. I would watch it again - probably even buy the DVD. But it wasn't nearly as amazing as it could have been. As for Shelter - I haven't seen it yet, but I really want to! I've heard it was very good Gone With the Wind.
Pass, have heard of the movie but haven't had the chance to watch it The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (US version)
Two thumbs up. I just saw it for the first time recently and for the 50's it was a very ambitious project but well done. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
