i'm bored so i figured i'd share my story about how I came out to my parents. It's nothing spectacular but kind of not in the ordinary realm of coming out stories. So when i came out a few years ago to my parents it wasn't something i was purposely keeping from them I just hadn't gotten around to having the conversation yet. Anyway, it was right after I had just moved in with my partner. I was skyping late one night with my mum, I went into the kitchen to get something, my partner came home from work and kissed me hello, not knowing he was in the frame of my webcam. So yea, my mum saw and when i sat back down to chat with her I didn't realize she saw until I saw the plastered grin on her face. Her first reaction was "I knew he wasn't your flatmate!" Then she went on for about 5 minutes telling me about how when I was younger she always knew which was strange because I really didn't "know" until I was closer to 19-20. I dunno if i'm the minority having been out to my family for so long but not so much to all my mates back home but it's never really been something I felt needed to be said so much, especially when i'm not presently dating someone.
Aww thanks for sharing, it's a nice story. I like how your mum wasn't phased one bit when she saw you two kissing! I think everyone in the closet wants such an accepting parent like that
I agree, it's wonderful when your parents are behind you :icon_bigg My mom was the very same, she said she always knew, I'm like WHAT??? I didn't know until Sept of this year, and I'm 42 :bang:
thanks she's pretty good to me. Both my parents have always been accepting of me for all my little quirks so I never really stressed about coming out to them, I just didn't know how to approach the subject to them. I guess it was fate that it was supposed to happen that way. ---------- Post added 6th Nov 2012 at 09:09 AM ---------- Yep its nice just having that one less stressor in life. That's crazy you didn't know til you were 42, I couldn't imagine
Thanks for sharing! That was a totally cute story. I loved it! And I'm glad your mom was so supportive for you as well!
so I had to share this forum with my mum and her words "thanks I know i'm awesome!!" haha I really do love her. good bit of a boost to her ego thanks everyone
