My voice sounds pretty deep and even more so on recordings, but I have noticed that every so often my voice can get a bit high pitched in places and there are times when it sounds a bit non-masculine (not in a stereotypical gay sense however).

    I don't know, I'm pretty weird.

I don't really mind how I sound, and I don't think my voice really fits the ''patterns.''

In fact, I have been told my voice is kind of deep.

  3. [QUOTEIt could be that I'm not into girl, but I didn't pick up anything strange. I like your accent by the way][/QUOTE] Hehe, coolio and thanks!
I don't think anyone has a distinctly 'gay' sounding voice.
brocub, I don't think you sound it at all! You have a very low voice... awesome!
TheEdend, you don't sound stereotypical all of the time, just on your words like 'whatever' and your voice is higher than that of most men I guess. I would be able to tell you were gay, possibly.

My voice is pretty much average. It's slightly deep but I wouldn't say stereotypical.
And everyone who's posted their voices, I don't think you're all stereotypical at all ^-^ Stereotypes are so off sometimes, lol.

It's surprisingly hard to come up with something smart to say in a foreign language. :grin:DD
Here's my voice. I think it's somewhat stereotypical but then again I might be completely wrong.

I don't really think it's stereotypical, but then again, you're accent is so cool sounding that it's a bit distracting of the pitch of your voice. But I wouldn't at all think you were gay after hearing your voice.

I have a weird way with talking. My voice is deep (used to be high, really high) but it still sounds like a lisp without being a lisp. At least that's they I perceive it.

Maybe it's because I'm not as accustomed to British English and thus can't hear some subtleties, but you practically sound like a native speaker. Your voice is maybe a little higher than average, but it doesn't strike me as stereotypical.

My voice is probably average to lower than average, and in no way is there a lisp. I tend to speak very clearly, so it's struck some guys who can barely do more than grunt as strange before, but nothing really stereotypical.

Edit: I just recorded that last paragraph, so let me know what you think. I could be way off base, so if I am, let me know. I'll embrace it!

I recorded myself with that ####### thing, and I don't even want to post it. Haha
My voice is soft and gentle. Not manly at all.

I don't really have any lisp in the slightest.
However, my voice is kind of high pitched.
    I blame Choir for that.

My voice is not really manly. It isn't super high either however. I'm pretty quiet and I don't like raising my voice. I don't really lisp but I think I put emphasis on words and sounds that straight guys don't tend to. I sound more stereotypical in that when I'm telling stories or excited, I have more range and expression. But that is like my face. I always get told I have such funny, animated expressions.

I did notice I emphasize sounds like uh, aye, aa, and or. Like when I say eying, ey is slightly more extended. The same with or in before or a in have. I don't do it with all vowels, just sometimes. I think years of covering up my speech has influenced it a lot as I had a slight lisp at 16.

Talked a little fast? Obviously you don't know the identifying signs of a Long Islander :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

No offense, but the whole "gay voice" thing is one of the things that I find kind of offensive. The majority of people I know and hang out with are gay, and very, very few of them have what one would describe as a "stereotypically gay" voice. Even fewer have a lisp.

This is one of those confirmation bias problems. There are people who are so obvious you could spot them from 100 miles away, and who fit all of the stereotypes, from lisp, to tone of voice, to most every other stereotype you can imagine. And people that don't know many gay people see these folks and assume that because they are gay, and sound like this, then everyone must. But it's just bullshit, and frankly, just annoying.

    No, I don't.

It's stereotyping. And everyone here is just curious to find out whether they have that stereotypical voice or not. It's fun. Relax.

I talked to a cute girl on ooVoo, she was lesbian, and wow was i suprized to hear her voice, soooo low! her face looked like a high cheerleader voice would be perfect, but it came out deep sultry and smokers voice. yes she is smoker and asians do smoke a lot.

Do transgender guys have a pattern to how they talk?? I don't know any non-T transguys, so I have no idea if I do or not. My voice itself is very high. However, my signing style, my talk with my hands, it is not like most students or regular users female or male, well, kinda more like a gay friend's signing, but mine is way more humorous. You would have to see my YouTube to get it!

I thought it sounded like a gay man's voice! haha! Not female, no.

I would be scared you hear my voice...you will judge me bad. :frowning2:

Yes, some gay men do put on a gay accent, just like VALLEY GIRL, oh my goddd! Really. I am Deaf, but I can hear that!

    ---------- Post added 3rd Jul 2012 at 01:50 AM ----------

My friend is a man with a soft gentle voice, which makes me enjoy hearing him speak because it would be good for book reading to children, very soothing, not brash. If it sounds nice, why not let me hear it?

But mine I know will be like a childs! I have not tried it, but I have recorded it on a tape recorder and thought oh wow I am only 6 years old.

I think you need to be on Doctor Who! I loved how it sounded!

I guess I fit a few of the stereotypes at times. I squeal like a girl when getting tickled for one :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Sometimes the odd sibilant 's' escapes me but quite rarely. Then again I am quite good at 'casting' various voices, so maybe I consciously keep it at bay? I have too wondered about this as I can put on the camp affectation as are stereotypical of gay men, with ease, but then again I can also sound like a husky phone porn lady if I want to...
