    It's been about a year now since I really started to question my sexuality, and 11 months since I've joined EC.

    Back on Monday, June 4th, the day after my high school graduation, I made a Facebook status that basically said I am gay and completely accept it. At the current time, Friday, June 8th, It has received 121 likes, which is about a third of my entire friends list. The icing on the cake was a couple of my high school sweet hearts liked the status as well :thumbsup:

    I am still closeted with my family, but I hope to change that soon.

    That's amazing, and even more so that so many of your friends showed their support. The "like" button is one of the greatest inventions ever for stuff like that... people can show their support without making a big deal about it :slight_smile:

    Wow, well done. Such a public coming out must be difficult, but also easy in a way to just know that now all your friends know. Can't even visualise doing that myself.

    What helped me was knowing that the graduation of high school comes with a clean slate. Over half the people on my Facebook friends list are pretty much gone from my life as high school is over, which made it even easier.
    You only get one life, pick a point in your life where your basically starting over (graduation), and do something major (come out).

    I have a love hate relationship with Facebook, especially when I stalk people on there(my crushes), which has led me in the wrong direction multiple times. But Facebook is a great way for a shy person to interact with peers.

    I also came out on facebook. The only bad thing was my dad didn't know yet. He saw my facebook and he was pissed I didn't tell him first.

    I want to do the same thing but im friends with my parents on FB. Some of my friends already know any my mom knows but im afraid that my brother and dad will see it.

    I don't get it. Won't your parents somehow get wind of this if 120 people liked it? Surely some of them will tell their parents or something and it will get back to your parents?

    It's been about 5 days since I've done it, and not one peep from my parents. But yes I should come out to them soon before they find out from someone else.
