My family has a long criminal background, so basically every dirty little tactic there is to know I know, there is expectations of me which is why I'm still not out of the closet. There are Hurley bats are what I'm referring to, its an irish sport, I got beaten with one before not fun, they carry knives aswell some of the less brave scum bags and a biro pen, is essentially a ball point pen when rested in between your fingers and pressed against your palm is as hard as a spear. It takes method to use it correctly and my dad taught me, I once shattered one off some body's back, he had to go home from school the poor bastard was in agony. I woulda punched him but my right hand was sprained ---------- Post added 25th Feb 2012 at 03:23 AM ---------- The gangs in Dublin like to send messages they do that by incapacitating some poor bastard and torturing him or maybe just saw off one of his legs, to take him they need to take them alive pepper spray makes it too easy. And there is fuck all rape in Ireland because well prostitution is practically legitamate. there is a website for them Escort Ireland - Irish Independent Escorts, Irish Touring Escorts, Irish Escort Agencies But we do have the highest suicide rate in Europe
Ok might I ask about how you see an emotional argument against the right to carry a knife? I mean I get the right to own or carry a gun I suppose but a pocket knife I just have never understood any argument against especially if its three inches or under. I am not saying you agree with it I just want to know how you understand the argument as I never have and thus cannot effectively argue against it if that makes sense. And I agree that its great to see people in the LGBT community talking about self defense and such.
Same arguments as with guns ~ violence against people close to you/making a very personal argument, fear of being attacked with it, etc. etc. I agree it's a lot weaker of an argument than with guns, but I've heard it before, lol. And then there's the highly debated topic of whether the restriction of the right to bear arms does any good to crime rates. But I'm not going to get into that. Ok, Ireland suddenly sounds a lot more violent that I ever imagined it being, lol. Huh, always thought that honor belonged to Scandinavia and their excessive lack of sun in the winter
Even if its under 3 inches, around here a lot of people get Glasgow Grins or Chelsea Smiles they are sometimes called, That's putting a blade in the corner of your mouth and working your way through the cheek. There are only two people I know who have them, they aren't pretty. My dad used to work with a builder who had a high pitched voice, he was in a pub one night and four fellas jumped him just because they didn't like the way he sounded. Maybe they thought he was gay I dunno. One of them slashed his face, the others just kicked him in the ribs while they had him pinned, I don't think anybody should carry a knife because they shouldn't need to. But you never know when some fuck wit is gonna pull one on ya.
I usually just stick with "being over six feet tall and over 200 lbs". It's amazing how little fighting I've had to do since this happened. Lex
Shouldnt need to carry a knife? I need one every day at work for a million little things. I need one daily when not at work like clockwork to open someone or to cut something down to a smaller size. I mean if you would like I could search out the guy in England that got arrested for having a small knife on him even though he delivered newspapers and used it to cut the strings off of the bundles because the knots were to tight to untie. How does that make sense? Would you also say that your plumbers, electricians, and construction workers should not carry the tools of their trade? What about the amateur in those things just going to help a friend? A knife is a tool that in the right hands can be dangerous but then again so can a pen as you pointed out so should we ban those next? What about metal flashlight? I know how to use even the small ones as a weapon so why not those too?
I'm talking for roving the streets not working with a stanley knife, if your just walking down to your friends house you shouldn't be carrying 6 inches of steel. But if you're on a construction site thats different you actually have it for something not just to stab somebody who might start on you.
Ok and I use my leathermen multitool or small pocket knife DAILY outside of work for something or another. I dont carry it to stab anyone, I carry it because its a useful tool to have on my person for a million little reasons throughout my day. Besides even if banned do you think criminals care? You have proven they dont so unless you plan to round up and melt down all knives then its a useless law and on top of that you have proven that weapons will be found and used by those that want to do harm so what is the flipping point of banning them when its the person NOT the implement that does the harm?
Yeah there is fuck all to be done about it, but most people around here are out of work, and its not just pocket knives, you can duct tape a bowie with the sheath inside your jacket, and knives are much easier to get than a 9mm. Knife crime is an epidemic in Limerick almost everyone there has 6 inches of serrated steel on them. There was pub fight in Limerick 6 men all of them had knives and all ended up getting treated for stab wounds one of them is dead. If that were a fist fight things would have turned out differently. I've got no problem with somebody carrying around a stanley if they plan on doing something with it besides splitting somebody's cheeks. But they don't carry stanleys they carry big fucking knives
I have a 2nd dan black belt in taekwondo (many years ago) but I wouldn't consider it as a fighting style because I did it primarily as a sport AND for my uni application resume. If you're holding a sharp weapon or a gun, then I'm pretty much toast (despite learning how to defend against it) but other than that, I guess I can put up a fight when it comes down to it.
i take shou shu (chinese martial arts) im not sure how common it is. i dont know alot about its history or anything but its pretty legit. we practice a bunch of body on body techs. overall its really fun and i learned alot.
Yay, another taekwondonist! I was beginning to think I was the only one. Yeah, it's totally useless. But I enjoyed the sparring sessions. Beating down someone feels so awesome (great stress relief). But I hated semi-contact sparring. We had to because we didn't wear the proper protective gears when sparring.
Kick'em where it hurts then run. Alternatively, using objects as weapons such as sticks. (Yeah I can't fight)
In my youth between 9 and 11 I did Judo on Friday nights then from 12 - 14 I did Tae-Kwon-Do on Monday and Wednesday nights But from 14 - present I'm a pacifist, Every night
