I've got Asperger's Syndrome, although I have managed to overcome most of the social problems. I still can't get sarcasm unless it's obvious. I also can't seem to get over the mind-blindness and alexithymia. I think the latter will take time.

See if you can get one of Temple Grandin's books on high-functioning Autism, "Asperger's on the Job" by Rudy Simone is also a good one.

Just avoid any books by what I like to call the "cure people", those who think Asperger's is a disease rather than a difference in patterns of thought. I hate those people.:tantrum:

i got 42 in the aspie quizz, i find it hard to make friends as i have no interest in what they are doing and even if i do make a freind it is usally strained and one sided and doesnt last long or we end up in a fight, i cant seem to escape the tech world , with facebook, computers, mobile phones, even if you ignore the home phone turn off the mobile and dont log into your internet at all you get accused of being rude because you havent answered that persons text or message on a website when you just really want to be on your own

The threshold at 32 is not a definitive diagnosis.

I think something like 80% of people on the autistic spectrum score 32 or more which is why the threshold is at that level.

No online questionnaire can be any more than an approximate indication.

i've had a therapist tell me she's fairly certain i have mild aspergers, which my sister has a severe case of and my brother has a mild case. and she said that before i told her my family information. i plan on asking my mom if i can go get tested, not that it will really do anything other than confirming my suspicions. but i still feel it would be nice to know. i have a lot of social issues. especially in relationships, or when i like someone. cause i always feel like if i tell them i like them i'll say something wrong and they'll get offended or something. it's really frustrating >.<

as for the test, i got a 34 lol. not that i'll rely on that but it was still amusing to take.

but yeah, knowing if i have aspergers or not i know it won't change who i am. i am me. i am a 24 y/o transguy and nothing will change that.

    Le Sigh....

I am so frustrated and sad right now. I want to have a relationship with someone, but I don't know what the deal is. I can make friends, but I just can't seem to build a relationship. It is just like part of me is missing.

I share all the frustrations with no relationship on the horizon, so much so that I just think that I can't handle spending the rest of my life alone. I recently found out that I'm an Aspie and maybe it won't be so terrible. There are more out there like us, we just need to take it super slow..and it will all work out

I've come to rely on my good Aspie friend's opinion because she always provides intelligent, well-researched, and often passed-over information. She's also one of the bravest people I know, moved to a new country to pursue a relationship with her trans girlfriend that lasted years, and when they broke up she continued to advocate for trans, disabled, native, and all other civil rights with passion and eloquence. And is loving and living up her life where she is.
Her mannerisms may not be what are expected and she can be 'awkward', but I value her friendship tremendously and admire her a lot.

Cool test (much more detailed than the 50 question version, I got a 36 on that one).

Your Aspie score: 127 of 200
    Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 91 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie
    [IMG]

I suspect my score would have been higher 25-30 years ago.

Interesting test, it predicted I have Aspergers well.

    Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 30 of 200

    @The OP
Remember that everything you have done up till now you have done with Aspergers, it's not something you recently developed, so nothing will be any harder now than it has been. It might be slightly harder for you to maintain relationships than average, but it's not impossible.

I have Asperger's. I've been treated by teachers a lot differently than others because of it...

My therapist diagnosed me with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and she thinks I'm high functioning, though I might have executive functioning difficulties (yet to have a test, the NHS is slow)
I find it very hard to read social cues or body language and I don't know how to comfort other people. I don't feel empathy or sympathy either. I also get very narrow minded about some things, like if I start a conversation on one topic and the topic changes, I usually don't change with the topic, so I'll carry on talking about the original subject. And large crowds of people, loud noises and bright colours make me very anxious (I also have anxiety disorder) I can't deal with people touching me if I'm around many people.

Hmm, not so sure about this.

I scored 28 on the score earlier in the thread, and 82/200 Aspie and 125/200 neurotypical on this one. But I am definitely Aspie (being professionally diagnosed as such maybe 20 years ago, before anyone knew what it was)
