28 minutes of pure bliss. Originally debuted as part of a choral church service in the city of Leipzig in 1731:

The less serious side of Bach. He liked his tobacco for sure:

Well, I'd like to. We'll see how busy I am with everything else.

I haven't seen Lulu yet, but I have seen Wozzeck and loved it, so I guess I'm in for a treat when I do watch Lulu.

Violinists and violists: what do you do about the mark you get on your neck when you practice a lot? I'm finding it really irritating right now...

are you sure that's not a hickey??!! :eusa_danc lol

I'm icing my wrist right now after some vigorous octave practice. I'm assuming it's just part of the sacrifice.

I don't practice the viola any more, but back in the day, I always wrapped a small cloth over the chin-rest and under the shoulder-rest (my viola is big and too heavy to play without a shoulder-rest). That would stop or at least soften the rubbing effect.

In the UK we have soft yellow dusters with red stitching round the edge which were a perfect size.

This is one of my favourite pieces, funny story behind it.
Shostakovich was one of those composers who took forever to write anything, so one of his friends bet him a bottle of best Russian Vodka that he couldn't write a piece of music in one day. The next day Shosty went back to his friend with this piece and said: where's my Vodka?

Some good old Medieval music from the Crusades.. An early distant precursor to the polyphony that later led to the development of choral church music.
