    I'm in the middle of a 12-page comparison of Beethoven's 3rd and Mozart's 40th.

(Movement 1 of 4) Beethoven Symphony No. 3 "Eroica" - YouTube
HE BLOWS MY MIND. OMG. The way every tiny little micromotive is fully developed by the end of the piece, not just the major themes, and all of it is vital to the underlying structure. GOD it's so amazing!!

And when the horns come in at 5:35, that's when you close your eyes let go.

I've been singing classical music for quite a while, usually italian or german pieces, but god I wish I could play an instrument to some Bach!

My favorite Bach composition is Double Violin Concerto in D minor 2nd movement

I play violin for my uni's opera society. We're doing 'The Mikado' at the moment, it's really fun (and full of racial stereotyping).

I know this isn't exactly the same thing, but I'm a huge fan of modern orchestral music; stuff like movie and video game soundtracks. Particular favorites are Barnard Herrman, Murray Gold, John Williams (obviously) and (my personal favorite) Maurice Jarre. I'm also in love with Romantic era composers, particularly Beethoven; his 7th symphony Adagio is possibly one of my favorite pieces of music in existence.

Glinka, born in 1804, one of Russia's earliest classical music composers... Now you can see where Tchaikovsky drew some of his influence from by listening to this famous work by Glinka:

I haven't listened to nearly as much Glinka as I probably should, thanks for that.

I LOVE Double Violin Concerto in D minor. Recently played it with my violin teacher-pure awesome. The two parts fit together perfectly.

I play a lot of Bach, but Mozart is cool too. And Holst-recently played 'Jupiter' in my orchestra (1st violin part is tricky but awesome)

My favorite composers are Bach and Rachmaninov (both in the wrong period strictly speaking, but we're not strict here).

I like the baroque structure, and I really really love fugal pieces with a lot of rhythmic interest; at the some time, I love the long, flowing and rolling melodies of Rachmaninov's music. As a piano player, I take a somewhat romantic and aggressive style to my playing of Bach that I borrow from the way I feel about Rachmaninov's music generally as well as the wonderful American harpsichordist (and lesbian I might add) Wanda Landowska.

Some of my favorite pieces include

Concerto for Two Harpsichords in C Minor BWV 1062 (Bach)
Concerto for Harpsichord in D Minor BWV 1052 (Bach)
Concerto for Harpsichord in D Major BWV 1054 (Bach)
Concerto for Harpsichord in F Major BWV 1057 (Bach)

Concerto for Piano in C Minor (Rachmaninov)
Concerto for Piano in D Minor (Rachmaninov)
    Prelude in G Minor (Rachmaninov)
    Prelude in C# Minor (Rachmaninov)

Did you play all the movements of it or just the first? I really really love the third. It's like my favorite movement. Also, if you have never heard it, you should check out BWV 1062 which is the transposed keyboard version.
