In my opinion the storyline simply shows that you don't have to know someone for a lifetime to know they are the love of your life.[/QUOTE]

I love that, your good with words!

I, too, saw the movie when I was a wee thing. 8 or 9 I think. I bawled in the bathroom afterward, and refused to watch it again 'cause I didn't like movies that made me cry. =P

I've still only seen it once, but oh my lord, I love the soundtrack. When I was younger, I'd pop that baby in my CD player and run around acting out epic stories.

The movie did get me really interested in the actual shipwreck, though. I've spent more time reading about it than I have watching the movie.

no it goes like this "ROSE:BACK OFF OR I'LL JUMP.
    "JACK: NO YOU WONT."
    "ROSE: YES I WILL."
"JACK: FINE IF YOU JUMP I JUMP."

Rose was kinda suicidal in that scene, then again she wasnt happy about who she was suppost to marry.

I LOVE "Titanic!" For me, the movie had a huge effect on me. I was 11 years old when I saw it at the movie theater in January 1998. I loved every second of it, and returned to the theater frequently to see it again and again. I think "Star Wars" and "Titanic" (I saw these two movies for the first time within a year of each other) made me fall in love with movies, and become a movie buff. It was also fun when "Titanic" was at the height of its popularity in 1998. I remember waiting in line to get into the theater to see it for the first time and being excited wondering what it was going to be like. It was also neat to hear people who had seen it already saying thy cried at the end of it, and how good it was. Plus the theater I saw it at had just opened, and had stadium seating and huge screens (remember this was 1998, and that was a big deal back then, especially where I lived.) Seeing "Titanic" for the first time was a movie-going experience I will never forget. And I still think it's a damn good movie to boot. It's an epic, highly emotional film. Maybe it's not perfect, but I absolutely love it. The ending with all of those people dieing from freezing to death effects me even more now. I think I understand how catastrophic the sinking was now even more than I did then. Plus, it got me interested in the sinking of the real Titanic. I find it to be a terrific film, and I absolutely adore it.

Agreed, she was more in love with the 'concept' of Jack, rather than Jack himself.

She isn't in love with Jack. She's in love with what Jack did with her life. He freed her from this rich, oppressive lifestyle which she nearly killed herself in and she made it on her own.

And yes, she said "I love you, Jack." in the movie. She's a teenage girl, and at that time she doesn't know what love is.

On a side note, is it really fair to compare Titanic to Terminator(s) and Aliens? They're both completely different genres and audiences. One's a romantic-disaster-epic, and the others are sci-fi thrillers.
