What particular couple of lines (or entire song, if you'd like) could describe your lover, crush, or even just a really great person you know? Write them down here. Be sure to write who the song is describing. These could be lyrics from a published song, or an original piece you wrote. Feel free to write anything from nebulously vague to entirely direct and focused. Try it out and see what you find. I'll go first: Look at the stars Look how they shine for you And all the things you do Yeah they were all yellow ... Your skin, oh your skin and bones Turn into something beautiful You know for you I'd bleed myself dry For you I bleed myself dry It's true Look how they shine for you Look how they shine for you Look how they shine "Yellow" by Coldplay. Reminds me of a dear friend who I lost some time ago. She loved the stars more than I love chocolate. I'll never forget her.
The lyrics to Pendulum's "Watercolour" remind me a lot of my first intimate experience with a guy. That, of course, is thanks to a large amount of liberal interpretation of the lyrics on my part--and probably due in no small part to the fact that he introduced me to the song--but hey, the point of ambiguous lyrics is to allow the listener more liberty in how he relates to them, allowing them to appeal to a wider variety of people. When I'm falling down Will you pick me up again? When I'm too far gone Dead in the eyes of my friends Will you take me out of here? When I'm staring down the barrel When I'm blinded by the lights When I can not see your face Take me out of here [x4] All I believe and all I've known Are being taken from me back at home Yeah do your worst, when worlds collide Let their fear collapse, bring no surprise Take me out of here... Feed the fire Break your vision Throw your fists up Come on with me [x4] Just stay where you are Let your fear subside Just stay where you are If there's nothing to hide
Now that she's back in the atmosphere With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey She acts like summer and walks like rain Reminds me that there's a time to change, hey Since the return from her stay on the moon She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey But tell me, did you sail across the sun? Did you make it to the Milky Way To see the lights all faded And that heaven is overrated? Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star? One without a permanent scar And then you missed me While you were looking for yourself out there? Now that she's back from that soul vacation Tracing her way through the constellation, hey She checks out Mozart while she does Tae-Bo Reminds me that there's room to grow, hey Now that she's back in the atmosphere I'm afraid that she might think of me as Plain ol' Jane told a story about a man Who was too afraid to fly so he never did land But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet? Did you finally get the chance To dance along the light of day And head back to the Milky Way? And tell me, did Venus blow your mind? Was it everything you wanted to find? And then you missed me While you were looking for yourself out there Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken Your best friend always sticking up for you Even when I know you're wrong? Can you imagine no first dance, freeze-dried romance Five-hour phone conversation The best soy latte that you ever had, and me? But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet? Did you finally get the chance To dance along the light of day And head back toward the Milky Way? But tell me, did you sail across the sun? Did you make it to the Milky Way To see the lights all faded And that heaven is overrated? And tell me, did you fall for a shooting star? One without a permanent scar And then you missed me While you were looking for yourself? And did you finally get the chance To dance along the light of day? And did you fall for a shooting star? Fall for a shooting star? And now you're lonely looking for yourself out there Drops of Jupiter by Train. These lyrics remind me of my mom. She went through a lot with my dad, and lost who she was a long the way. She's been searching for herself for a long time. The lines starting with Plain Ol' Jane and ending with a story about a man who was afraid to fly remind me of when she used to tell me to aim high for my dreams. And my middle name is Jane lol.
It Ain't Me, Babe by Bob Dylan Go ’way from my window Leave at your own chosen speed I’m not the one you want, babe I’m not the one you need You say you’re lookin’ for someone Never weak but always strong To protect you an’ defend you Whether you are right or wrong Someone to open each and every door But it ain’t me, babe No, no, no, it ain’t me, babe It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for, babe Go lightly from the ledge, babe Go lightly on the ground I’m not the one you want, babe I will only let you down You say you’re lookin’ for someone Who will promise never to part Someone to close his eyes for you Someone to close his heart Someone who will die for you an’ more But it ain’t me, babe No, no, no, it ain’t me, babe It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for, babe Go melt back into the night, babe Everything inside is made of stone There’s nothing in here moving An’ anyway I’m not alone You say you’re lookin' for someone Who’ll pick you up each time you fall To gather flowers constantly An’ to come each time you call A lover for your life an’ nothing more But it ain’t me, babe No, no, no, it ain’t me, babe It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for, babe to my lovely ex that always whining about how should i be.:rolle:
Today I am A small blue thing Like a marble Or an eye With my knees against my mouth I am perfectly round I am watching you I am cold against your skin You are perfectly reflected I am lost inside your pocket I am lost against Your fingers I am falling down the stairs I am skipping on the sidewalk I am thrown against the sky I am raining down in pieces I am scattering like light Scattering like light Scattering like light Today I am A small blue thing Made of china Made of glass I am cool and smooth and curious I never blink I am turning in your hand Turning in your hand Small blue thing ^^^ Small Blue Thing by Suzanne Vega. These lyrics remind me of an ex who was very abusive. I felt helpless a lot. It's a good reminder that I deserve better. I love how you curse when I wake you up And sweetly demand that I fill your cup. I follow your cool gun powder glare Honey, you lay me bare. You're the girl of my dreams And a pistol it seems, but you shoot me straight and true Time to lay down my bets, Oh, I put all my money on you. When I'm in the dark, girl, you bring me to light. It seems like you're almost always right. So keep boxing my ears when I sew them shut. Baby, you sure are tough. You're the girl of my dreams And a pistol it seems, but you shoot me straight and true Time to lay down my fears, Honey, I feel so safe around you. If the tiller man taught me anything, It's that a hard-headed woman is what I need To help me to always do my best. Baby, my life is blessed. You're the girl of my dreams Darling, please wear this ring You're an angel through and through. Time to lay down my life, Honey, I'd do it gladly for you. Time to lay down my life, Honey, I'd do it gladly for you ^^^^ Pistol by Dustin Kensrue. This song makes me think of my best friend. It was her ringtone on my phone for a long time. She's such a little firecracker and I love her to death. She's the only one who has stood by me through everything and I honestly would lay down my life for her.
"Smile" by Uncle Kracker ---------------- You're better then the best I'm lucky just to linger in your light Cooler than the flip side Of my pillow, that's right Completely unaware Nothing can compare to where You send me, lets me know that it's okay Yeah, it's okay And the moments where my good times start to fade You make me smile like the sun, fall out of bed Sing like bird, dizzy in my head Spin like a record, crazy on a Sunday night You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breathe Shine like gold, buzz like a bee Just the thought of you can drive me wild Oh, you make me smile Even when you're gone, Somehow you come along just like A flower pokin' through the sidewalk crack And just like that You steal away the rain, and just like that You make me smile like the sun, fall out of bed Sing like bird, dizzy in my head Spin like a record, crazy on a Sunday night You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breathe Shine like gold, buzz like a bee Just the thought of you can drive me wild Oh, you make me smile Don't know how I lived without you 'Cause every time that I get around you I see the best of me inside your eyes You make me smile You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breathe Shine like gold, buzz like a bee Just the thought of you can drive me wild You make me smile like the sun, fall out of bed Sing like bird, dizzy in my head Spin like a record, crazy on a Sunday night You make me dance like a fool, forget how to breathe Shine like gold, buzz like a bee Just the thought of you can drive me wild Oh, you make me smile (Oh, you make me smile) Oh, you make me smile (Oh, you make me smile) Oh, you make me smile
Oh yeah, I'll tell you something, I think you'll understand. When I'll say that something I want to hold your hand, I want to hold your hand, I want to hold your hand. Oh please, say to me You'll let me be your man And please, say to me You'll let me hold your hand. Now let me hold your hand, I want to hold your hand. And when I touch you I feel happy inside. It's such a feeling that my love I can't hide, I can't hide, I can't hide. Yeah, you've got that something, I think you'll understand. When I'll say that something I want to hold your hand, I want to hold your hand, I want to hold your hand. And when I touch you I feel happy inside. It's such a feeling that my love I can't hide, I can't hide, I can't hide. Yeh, you've got that something, I think you'll understand. When I'll feel that something I want to hold your hand, I want to hold your hand, I want to hold your hand.
Bright, cold silver moon, Tonight alone in my room, You were here just yesterday. Slight turn of the head, eyes fell when you said, "I guess I need my life to change." Seems like something's just not the same, What could I say? I'll need a little more luck than a little bit, Cause every time I get stuck, the words won't fit. And every time that I try I get tongue tied; I need a little good luck to get me by. I need a little more help than a little bit. Like the perfect one word no one's heard yet. Because every time that I try to get tongue tied, I need a little good luck to get me by this time. I stare up at the stars, I wonder just where you are, You feel a million miles away. (I wonder just where you are). Was it something I said, or something I never did? Or was I always in the way? (Was it something I did)? Can someone tell me what to say, to just make you stay? I'll need a little more luck than a little bit, Cause every time I get stuck, the words won't fit. And every time that I try I get tongue tied; I need a little good luck to get me by. I need a little more help than a little bit. Like the perfect one word no one's heard yet. Because every time that I try to get tongue tied, I need a little good luck to get me by this time. I know it feels like the end, Don t want to be here again. And we could help each other off the ground, so we never fall down again. And what it takes I don't care, We're gonna make it I swear. And we could help each other off the ground, so we never fall down again, again. I know it feels like the end, Don't want to be here again. And we could help each other off the ground, so we never fall down again. And what it takes I don't care, We're gonna make it I swear. And we could help each other off the ground, so we never fall down again ~ "Tongue Tied" by Faber Drive So... I'm friends with this girl but really wish we could be more. And, for the first time, I actually think I might have something of a chance with her. She's very affectionate with me and responds pretty well to my hints and stuff. She also has hinted that she likes girls a whole lot in the two years I've known her. But there are two small problems here. One, I'm absolutely terrified to actually ask her out or anything, hence being "tongue tied." And two, she's leaving after this summer. She's gonna be about 2 or 3 hours away... Almost all of my friends move/change schools/are graduating, and it really sucks. The last girl I liked moved and we fell out of contact, and I don't want that to happen again, hence the "I know it feels like the end / Don't want to be here again..." part.
Miss Impossible - Poets of the Fall She can see about four satellites Every minute of the hour And find a four leaf clover Where you never saw a flower She's habitually paradoxical a parallel perpendicular Barefoot in nightgowns That's how she dances in the rain Sundown to sundown Like she was washing away her pain And she is beautiful She's unpredictable Damn irristable Is it plausible to hate She is my common sense Revolves on decadence But what's the difference It's impossible to bait She can really be a handful Like the brownies that she bakes you It can be a bit hysterical But never quite the breakthrough She's some kind of an epitome, the sea of intranquillity In flimsy nightgowns Barefoot she dances in the rain Sundown to sundown Like she was washing way her pain And she is beatiful She's unpredictable Damn irresistible Is it plausible to hate She is my common sense Revels on decadence But what's the difference It's an impossible debate
