Next time you go to the loo and the seat is up, you should pee standing up :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
Girls can do it...not sure how, requires some sort of weird finger trick

I always put both the seat and the lid down, that way when you flush you inhibit the spread of germs and bacteria. I've done it so long it's not really to be courteous, or maybe it is, it's just an unconscious thing for me.

Whenever I need to take a leak I usually just do it in the bathtub and avoid the whole argument altogether. It's also a much larger target to aim at which is a plus. Sometimes I don't even need to hold on. Look Ma, no hands!

Preventing injury isnt difficult, look down before you sit. It's that easy. Guys shouldn't be responsible for your lack of attention when you go to the bathroom, its common sense to look before you leap or sit down in this case. When guys go to the bathroom in the middle of the night we have to look before we go in case we miss or the lid is down.

I honestly don't care either way, people have different habits and so sometimes you have to lift and sometimes you don't, not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things. What I do care about is when its complained about it. Females tend to complain about the seat not being put down, then they complain if you pee a little on the seat. Seems to me that its all one sided.

I tend to close both the seat and the lid because then its an equal effort for every genders, both have to lift and both have to put down.

This really. Also, because we have cats and lately one of them loves to play with water.

Put the lid down when you're done. That way:

-Everyone has to expend the same amount of effort (approximately) to use the toilet
    -It's more ascetically pleasing.
-No one falls in in the middle of the night
-It prevents the shower of fecal matter across the room when you flush.

    Simple.

I would also like to point out that the title should be talking about "sex" and not "gender" as it's the biological physical differences, and not the societal "roles".

Personally, I have never understood this toilet seat thing.

i srsly don't understand why they make toilet seats lift-able anyway. they could just make toilets with the seat built in. i mean, if you're a guy and you can't manage to direct your urine stream into a hole that size after so many years of practice, then you probably deserve to wipe it up when you're done anyway, or sit down.

    1. because its easier to clean that way

    2. So you can replace it if it cracks or breaks.

    3. when your older its not always so easy to not dribble on the seat.

    4. some or most w.e guys just always dribble at the end, its unavoidable.

Girls just need to stop complaining about something so trivial. Most mature women get used to it if they have a guy in the house anyway.

This exactly is what I would have said. I close the lid every time. Pet peeve to have the lid up. (Whole lid, not just seat.)

I put both lids down. I don't flush after every time I piss (saving water!) so the room would smell nasty if I didn't. Also I wouldn't want my cats investigating the bowl.

For the last 18 years of my life I have not had to worry about this issue as there was only one female in the house but I have recently moved into a primarily female household and am now getting in trouble for leaving the seat up, i have no problem putting it down its just not a habit so I don't think about it

    Here's something hilariously relevant:

Oh and fyi, I do put the seat down, it just seems to be the right thing to do.

I think guys should put the seat down because:
Guys have a choice of whether to pee standing up or not.
    Girls don't.
Therefore, it makes more sense for it to always be down.

Mind you, I have my own ensuite and have had one for pretty much my whole life, so it's never been an issue for me.

^This. Idk why but I've done it my whole life.

As for the whole toilet seat thing, well I think girls are just being silly. If you can get up in the middle of the night and go to the bathroom, add the extra two seconds and check if the toilet seat is down. Don't be lazy.

Yes, guys can choose how they pee and girls can't but that's not guys fault. Tell god to put the toilet seat down for you.

Our toilet seat has been broken for ages so it's not an issue, but if I can I'd put the lid down as well because of vapours.

I guess you could say some guys have a choice, but not all. I cant pee sitting down, it just doesn't work. Also i believe it is possible for some girls to pee standing up, it takes a lot of effort and manoeuvring but im pretty sure it can be done, so your argument doesn't really hold up.
