I came out to my boss at 55 years old (been in the closet for a good 40 years). And she showed no surprise or change in expression. It was like okay cool. I told her to remind me to never play poker with her...

    I got another one!

So in my computer science lab (which is basically a giant study group for another class), my two friends Ed and Luke are in there with me, along with one of my best friends Camille. The professor for that class is super nice, and always brings lots of snacks since the class is two hours during dinnertime. Anyways, Ed and Luke are really weird, and end up saying some really weird things.

At one point, Ed had a handful of peanuts. He had to do something else though, and decided he needed both hands. He leans over towards me and goes, "Hey, hold my nuts." My response is to scrunch up my face and protest "Ed, no matter how many times you try, I AM STILL GAY."

So, if my lab doesn't know by this point... they're just not listening.

I finally came out to my dad as being transgender yesterday. His response was basically, "what took you so long?" The answer to that is he's a sexist pig, which is true and he knows it. I was scared to tell him I'm something he insults on a daily basis.
My brother insisted I don't tell my dad because he's sexist, but it turns out he doesn't actually care. He's doing his best to call me Ashley, but he doesn't seem to be tying to get the pronouns right. Still, progress is progress.

When I finally came out as trans to my sister, I decided it would be a good idea to jump out of her closet with a sign saying I'm trans and throwing glitter everywhere.
The first thing she said was: "omg, you got glitter everywhere, now I have to clean the floor"
When I asked her if she'd actually read the sign she said "HAHA I was right, I'm the greatest detective every!!!" she seemed more excited about me coming out then I did lol.

My actual coming out was not funny at ALL. But I came out to my friends last year very subtly, and it was basically known that I liked girls and guys. Still not out about my trans/genderqueer self. But my friend last year before he knew was being weird.

    Friend: *joking* you're so gay
    Me: I am actually
    Him: hahahaha!
    Me: but I'm not joking
    Him:.... Erm what
    Me: I'm totally mostly gay
    Him: well fuck
    Me: what?
Him: this guy I know likes you and I told him I'd hook him up
    Me: sshhhhh don't do that

That's funny and actually pretty cool! It both tells you that he was actually surprised when you Came Out and then, ultimately supportive.

I really haven't come out yet but I tried to come out to my best friend a couple of months ago.

I told him there was someone I liked and when he asked who I told him the name of the guy. He just said: nah I don't believe you
We haven't talked about it since and I think he still believes I'm straight.

It's worth noting that my aunt and mom are also lesbian. When I came out to my brother, his only response was to jokingly say "Seriously? Am I the only straight one in the family?".

My (really straight) best friend: "But… how can you not like penis?"
"I like penises too. [She sighs in relief] Penises are a great thing, they are a great feat of nature's engineering…"
    She smiles.
I go on: "… sometimes I'd wish to have one too."
    "What?? Are you… trans?"
    "Uhm no. [pokerface]"

Some friends and I were talking about different orientations while walking through a city not too far away from where we live, and then we reached the subject of pansexuality.
I just said calmly "I'm pan," and one of them said something along the lines of "okay, cool" or something, but the other one didn't hear me. So I had to repeat myself, a little louder this time.
Remember, this was in a city, and we were passing through a pretty crowded square, so multiple people probably heard me. She still didn't get what I was saying, and repeated "What?", so I basically yelled "I'M PAN" loud enough to be heard halfway across the square.
Luckily she heard me this time, and went "oohhhhh"

I've told very few people that I'm trans. It's worth noting I told them all i was "transmasculine". Most of my friends said something along the lines of "What exactly does that mean" and after an explanation "so do I call you a different name? or he or whatever?" and all of that. But my childhood best friend had a significantly different response.

We hadn't seen eachother for a few years and had decided to go out for dinner and catch up on life. through dinner I fought with the idea to tell her. She went on and on about her life, we talked about how we moved and our partners and all that. At the end of dinner we walked back to the car and I opened the door for her. She jokingly called me a gentleman and It all sort of spilled out.

    me: "Actually. Yeah...I'm transgender so.."
    her: "what."
me [nervously]: "I..I feel more like a guy...i guess..."
    Her: "Damnit!!"
    Me: ???
Her: " I called it years ago!! I should have made a bet with someone damnit!"
and she hugged me and we had a good laugh about it. she later told me she never really saw me as a girl, that idea just never made sense to her.

Building an ikea chest of drawers, friend asked if I was bi, I said yes.

He immediately hits his thumb with a hammer, drops the hammer on his toes, then shouts at me for surprising him. 'If you were straight, this never would've happened'.

    "I'm gay"

    "Really?"
    "Wait what really?"
    "Wait... really?"

    "Yeah"

    "Oh... faggers."

Me: Mom, I have something to tell you.
Mom: Good, you can tell us at dinner. It'll be done soon.
Me: That probably wouldn't be a good idea. I'm Pan.
Mom: What's that, another gender or something?
Me: No, it means I like both girls and guys.
Mom: I guess that makes sense because you used to be a guy.
    Me: I...what?
Mom: Does your girlfriend know you're gay?
Me: We were both lesbians when we first dated...
Mom: Well whatever. Don't tell your father. He has a hard enough time wrapping his mind around this whole gender thing.
Me: Yup. Glad we had this talk. :X

When coming out as bisexual on my 15th birthday

Me: I'm bi. And I've got a girlfriend. (to this time I wasn't quite sure about my gender and everyone thought I'm a Girl anyways)
    Whole Family: *continues eating*
    Me: Did you hear me?
Mom: Yeah. Happy for you. We don't care if you are into girls or boys, we just want you to be happy.

~ when I broke up with my girlfriend around 15 months later ~
Mom: So your lesbian phase is over? Are you now hetero again?
    Me: noooooooooooo. Goddamnit.

When coming out to my friends as transsexual
Me: I wanted to tell you I'm trans*, I wanna tell you cause I wanna make it official and may need somewhere to go to.
    Friend 1: Okay, everything's alright
Friend 2: Okay, we'll be there for you. Whatever trans* is.
(Of course I explained it too him)

~ when we met the next time ~
Friends: We decided to call you Bruce till you chose a name

This is definatly a had-to-be-there moment, but I'll try my best
So last week, my brother's friend(who is pan and thinks I'm gay even though I never said anything and deny it every time)was trying to get me to admit I was gay, so I just said "ok fine whatever just leave me alone"
So on my way home my brother started talking to me about it:
Him:Is that what you wanted me to ignore? (his friend) saying you were gay?
    Me:yea
Him:lol she came up to me and said your brother is gay and I said no he's not
    Me:well actually...
    Him:what?
Me:I actually am just don't tell anyone ok?
Before I said that he had a huge grin on his face and after it slowly faded into that o-mouth face. It took a couple days of being avoided, but he doesn't seem to care anymore. And to be honest, I thought he was gonna come out to me afterwards, oh well

My 2nd coming out (to a friend):

Me: I need to tell you something.
    Her: Sure, what is it?
    Me: Ehhh.. I'm gay.
    Her: Ehhh.. I know that.
Me: What?? How? Is it that obvious? (I'm quite sure it wasn't, but I kinda missed this..)
Her: You never stare at my chest while talking to me.
    Me: ...
Her: And when you saw me half-naked, you looked like you didn't even notice.
    Me: I saw you half-naked??
Her: See? This is what I'm talking about...

Friends were joking about boycotting things:
    Him: I'm boycotting boycotts.
Me: I'm boycotting pretending I'm straight.
    Him: Lol

We proceeded to joke about robbing a bank. Then, the next day:

Me: I wasn't joking last night
    Him: about robbing the bank?
    Me: no, the other thing

Still took him a good five minutes to get it. :bang:
