All I have to say is, thank god I live in Canada.
Otherwise I wouldn't be going to prom.

Omg. For real? That's like farther than I thought they'd dare go. It's amazing the lengths they'll go.

Okay, can we knock off the southern stereotypes? The south isn't made up of all these idiots.

Is this the same girl with Proma-Drama? :/

    Ah, okay. Thank you.

But this is in Mississippi, isn't it? Maybe I'm confused, but I thought the Prom thing was in Miss., but that's alright.

Anyways, this sounds really messed up. The school and yearbook dept. can get in some serious trouble for this.

Is this a motherf*cking joke? How can a group of school officials be so immature? I mean, ignorance in kids is already really bad, but ignorance in authorities?

Besides, she didn't ask for a sculpture or a fountain or anything, she just wanted to take a picture of herself wearing a tuxedo, what is wrong with that?

I agree; yes, this region does have its problems, but not every school here is fueled by bigotry.

I expect a Supreme Court ruling over Mississippi's laws when it comes to schools soon... I remember researching in high school... although it's rare, a state's law can be changed by the government if it's found to be unconstitutional. Although there is no actual law regarding what they're doing, I expect one to be added soon. >_>

Makes me wonder though: Would the press on this be so big if a straight student wished to wear a tux in her yearbook photo?

Last time I checked, you don't ignore a request from the ACLU. It's just asking for them to take you to court.

What does this school think they are doing? Just wearing a tuxedo doesn't outright make a yearbook promote homosexuality if that is their concern (which is still ridiculous, but I'm grabbing at straws to see how they reasoned this decision with themselves). Ugh, absolute discrimination. That poor girl.

I thought the prom thing was in Mississippi as well, which is why I asked what's up with this state?

I agree with you, not every state, nor every school in the south is like this.

This is stupid. Mississippi is an evil state, but not every state in the south is like that.
