It's going to be fire/flying because I will vomit if we have another normal/flying Route 1 bird :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.

Oh trust me I hope it is because the typing is almost monopolized by legendary Pokemon with Charizard being the exception. But since nothing is confirmed no use stating something as fact. But I do hope it's fire flying. Also except for colors I see no resemblance between the lizard and mawile

The types of the new Pokemon were actually reveiled and the bird is Normal/Flying... I was expecting the Panda to be Dark, but I was actually pleasantly surprised that it was Fighting.

We know the types were revealed we are talking about evolutions.

My bad. I still doubt it will evolve to a fire type though, but I agree that we need more mixed flying types out there...

These new four pleasantly surprised me. I didn't like the new starters much, but I actually like all four of these ones. I can't wait for this game.

I just think that all legendary only typings should be available in non-legendary Pokemon like for competition sakes at least. Like dragon/steel would be great if it weren't only dialga's typing

If Pokemon Smash and the unofficial English translation is to be believed, Sylveon's typing is:
    -Not Fighting
    -Strong against Ice
    -Not resistant to Poison

Which out of the existing types only leaves Rock, or a dual-typing, or a new type... provided that Pokemon Smash is being factual and the translation is correct.

Edit: actually Rock does resist Poison so it can't be that either. Although the way they got this information could be open to a lot of interpretation (Pokemon Smash is freaking weird).

I'm betting sylveons type will be revealed on Pokemon smash on the 19th. I honestly think it will be a new type. And I hope it is

It could also have some abilities to gives it those type matchups.
Or they change the type effectiveness of existing types.

I honestly start to believe more and more than Sylveon is a new type. I mean they have tried to build this whole thing up for a couple of months now, not reveiling anything and leaving all fans speculating like crazy. If it belonged to one of the known types, I am quite sure they would have let announced it by now...

The fact they're being so secretive about the type tells me it's a new type.

Staraptor can learn Close Combat and it's still Normal/Flying.

Probably gave Nitro Charge to it because if you don't grab a Fire Starter, in every region, it's always hard to get a fire move. Unova was lucky with Pansear.

Well it's red, it can learn Flame Charge, both little images of it in combat have it in mid-fire attack animation. Charging isn't a very bird-like feature (unlike the case for Blitzle/Zebstrika) so the only conclusion for me is a fire affinity.

There's nothing stopping them from finally making a fire Pokemon available at the start of the game! I think the route-1 bird is a perfect option because it'd be nice to get out of the rut of having those Pokes being perfect expies.

I agree. And I think this game will change a lot of the normal things that the series does with every main game. Like the normal rodent or normal/flying type near the beginning. I would like to see many changes and new ideas this generation

I also liked all four pokemon, the electric lizard reminds me of Daxter. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I'm also glad there's going to be a little customization, but not full on like Skyrim.

Am I the only one that thinks the panda thing looks like Oshawott?

Are there even any pokemon that change their type upon evolution other than Azurill?

I don't think we've seen a dual type pokemon change one of it's type after evolving. We've seen them gain a type, but I can't recall one changing.
