"May be offensive to the general public"? Ugh... Oklahoma needs to look a little further north and take a cue from Iowa...

I don't like the writing of the article. They refer to his "sexual preference." My sexual preference is often, but that has little to do with my orientation. Also, this is the state that elected that vapid puppet Sally Kern. I can't really say I'm surprised.

Yeah if they let him have the tag, his car probably would be messed up the next day. They're jus doing him a favour =]

That's why I don't have a pride sticker of any kind on my car, even though I would if I could. I don't want my car to get vandalized.

Presumably he knows the risks and wants to get it anyway, the idea that the government should prohibit speech because some people find it offensive is totalitarian.

    ----------

The state of Oklahoma has a clear double stander since they issue “chose life” license plates to allow the government should not allow political messages from one side and not the other.

Yet only a handful of states have "Respect Choice" plates. Go figure.

That’s because the “choose life” groups started first; courts have ruled that if states accept one they have to accept the other if they go through the process.

While Freedom of Speech is a sacred American right, you still can't go into a crowded theater and yell a bogus "Fire" to frighten people and cause panic!

I guess they think "I'm Gay" might cause panic? Drivers would zoom off the road to avoid getting their valves dirty or something? It might make some other cars so hot their radiators would shoot steam? British import cars would need hide to protect their boot?

I know that my words make at least as much sense to you as this rule does.

Okay, let me just say that Oklahoma has always scared me. Even more than Texas.

Are there any EC members from Oklahoma?

I think pretty much all vanity plates are silly but if you are gonna allow them to print something then most everything should be allowed.

He should just get "poofter." I bet that would fly through and nobody's notice.

Insurance rates for his car would go up because someone attacking his car or "accidently crashing into him"? Maybe that's why they're worried?

Actually this is an interesting story because I know one guy in my region (or city) drives a van and his plate reads: "Aah Men". And he had a tiny pride sticker on the bumper.
