With respect to "bacteria and problems down there," well, all that's required to prevent infections is to clean the area when you bathe/shower. Not terribly difficult, unless you're a young kid. Infections "down there" are not fun but they're hardly life threatening. It is apparently medically true that being circumsized does help protect you (somewhat, not totally, obviously) from getting HIV--adult male circumcision is becoming a big preventive tactic in a variety of African nations because of this. It also reduces the incidence of penile cancer, I believe. However, seeing as how HIV is not exactly massively prevalent in most regions (and that penile cancer is not a hugely large threat), to me it becomes a trade-off: is the extra protection worth slicing up one of the most sensitive areas of your body? Also, it's worth noting that the protective factors were something discovered long after infant circumcision was the norm in the US, which to me smacks of attempts to justify the practice, which was promoted purely on the basis of "cleanliness" (except among Jewish people where it's a tradition) and--unsurprisingly given we're talking about America--money, actually. And be all that as it may, it's not like sexually transmitted HIV or penile cancer are particular dangers for young boys (pre-teenage boys, at least), so to me that kinda says infant circumcision is still a really bad idea. Why not wait until the person can make some kind of at least semi-informed decision? To me, it would be like getting all kids to have their tonsils and appendices out as babies because they might, one day, cause problems. The thing is, even though overall it's thought that the appendix and tonsils aren't crucial to our well-being, we don't do that. So even if foreskin and lack of scar tissue isn't a big deal for guys, why bother? Overall, I think circumcision is done much more out of tradition and wanting boys to look the same as their fathers and "all the other boys" than it is for any medical reason.
Well, being from the US and a family that used to be religious, I'm cut. Can't say I miss it. I don't really see the huge issue with it except for looks. I never knew what it was like to have the extra nerve endings, so I really don't miss it and am pretty happy with what I've got. Unless there's someone around who can tell us what the difference is after getting a circumcision later in life, we can't really even compare. Can't judge against something you've never had.
I was circumcised because of the bacteria thing and such. My grandfather was a doctor (and was during my birth) and he wanted me circumcised because as he put it, it's difficult to properly clean down there at times so I was circumcised. As for the father thing, definitely not the case because my father wasn't in my life much. He rather would work than see me so yeah that's not the reason I was cut. Just wanted to put that out there.
Well when I started this post I wasn't asking what people preferred! I was just curious as I like diversity! I wasn't trying to make it into a big issue, like you are suggesting.
for 1) cut guys dont have the nerves uncut guys retain, and i read makes some difference as to the way one would thrust to achieve pleasure via cut or uncut for 2) i always thought the same thing... kinda like with a callous on a finger or something but what do i know
I'm cut and I like the way my penis looks. Zumbro put it best; I can't miss something I never had a memory of. I wouldn't care if my boyfriend was cut or uncut, as long as they're STD-free and keep it clean down there, I'm happy.
Cut and prefer cut, but obviously, I wouldn't turn down a guy who was uncut. It's not a huge deal to me. But I like my member a lot the way it is.
Wow, I didn't mean for this to be turned into some preference thing or any big issue! I can see that some people are VERY VERY VERY passionate about their cocks!
Either is the norm in my head... I mean once you pull back the foreskin they look the same anyway lol
uncut, but i like to keep very clean! i used to have a preference for cut (i guess what you see in porn..), but now i really dont care, as long as its hygenic! its really not important
