it seems generations are getting more tolerant as they go along.
I wouldn't be surprised if gay marrage was allowed when I've got someone to marry ^^

That's great that so many of today's youth are heading in the direction of tolerance and acceptance. Things like this really give me hope for the future.

There's still some educating to be done in this department!

I'll never understand how heterosexuals can argue what the cause of homosexuality is, like they understand it better than actual gay peeps. *ponders*

You are right Martin. All they need to do is open their ears and listen to glbt people to better understand them.

Just ask them when they chose to be straight.

Also I think people who are more likely to take an online poll are going to tend to be more progressive in general. Hardly an unbiased poll.

This is great news. Its hard to imagine that people still think that we choose to be gay.. It doesn't make sense to me at all. We all need to just listen to each other and this world would be so much better in general...If people just would listen.

I would agree that as time has passed, we as a nation have progressed into a society who is growing a little more and more accepting of diversity.

You'd be surprised! I read the results of one poll conducted by Yougov in UK which found that around 15% of people here believed homosexuality should be illegal. Tis worrying to think that more than 1 in 10 people who answered that poll believed in such intolerant ideas still. However, they didn't show the age range or anything of those being asked, so I suspect those who chose that are in the older generation and/or religious conservatives.

I do agree that 3000 is a pretty short sample to generalise. It's a promising sign, but I suspect the number of support would decrease a bit if the sample was increased.

I think you have to give straight teens some slack when they say that it's a choice. They might think it's a choice to 'be gay' but not necessarily a choice to be attracted to the same sex. We just gotta convince them that it is acceptable and natural for us to follow our orientation. And they seem pretty damn accepting whether or not they think it's a choice.

But a lot of straight people say they choose to be straight when you ask them.

But ask them when they chose. And why they didn't choose homosexuality.

^^ then ask them why they think we would chose to be discriminated against. Why we would chose to have no rights. Why we would chose to be effectively second class citizens.

I don't think this data is a correct representation of teens as a whole.
    It's full of biased.
For starters the survey was hosted by an advertising site, which means it was posted as little side things of websites (most likely) which means it leaves out tons of people whose opinions are probably different cause they had no desire to fill it out. Also since it's an advertising site the survey could have be posted on more accepted open minded sites.
