    >>>I have no lisp or "Gay Accent" but i've never really met many gay people at all, at least not for long periods of time... I'm sorry but I have this attribute where as I hate to fit into any steriotype, i'm not very feminine at all other than having lots of female friends and aswell as finding lisps annoying which I am guilty about, seeing a gay person who has a lisp and says things like "girlfriend" to much annoys me far more as they increase the steriotype i'm trying not to fit into... I wish I didn't get annoyed over it but thats just me....

This is a pretty common feeling among those who 1. just came out, and 2. don't know many gay guys. And I think it's due to a lot of factors. For one, there's the feeling that femmy guys are somewhat responsible for homophobia. "If they all acted like ME, and not like girly men, straight people wouldn't have a problem with them!" Secondly, there's some fear involved. "Is that what happens when you come out? No thanks!" Thirdly, and perhaps strangest of all, there's an element of jealousy involved. Because femmy guys aren't acting. They're just femmy. They're living their lives as they see fit, and it's extremely liberating. And for some, they wish they could be like that.

Mostly something certain gays "catch." Many have a predisposition for higher, softer voices but exaggerate it either subconsciously or purposely.

ahh good point. i was wondering why i was starting to find it more funny than annoying lately--when they are real, some are fake. same thing happened with drag queens, it used to kinda freak me out, but now id really like to meet a queen and hang out or something.

I know a lot of guys with the lisp/accent.
But I know others without it.
    I don't know.

A friend's roomate is a drag queen. Out of costume he looks the exact opposite. Big build, fairly masculine voice. You can barely tell he's gay.

My only other real experience was at a bar men's room where a drag queen was scrubbing her dress complaining of the "White shit someone spilled on it"
