Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. Just finished it now and thought it was great. The whole play is like a massive continuation of the epilogue of Deathly Hallows. There's massive plot twists, so much so that the whole play is a plot twist in itself and turns everything you thought you knew about DH on it's head. It almost feels like what Harry Potter would have been if everything he tried to do and succeeded, failed. You can definitely tell by the writing style that it's definitely JK's work. The only bad thing I'd say about it is that it doesn't feel like it's finished, but that might be a good thing. People have also said that it feels empty with a lot of plot holes in it, but it is a play and JK is known for her simplistic writing style, she technically writes for kids so it has to be easy to follow. She's worlds away from Dostoevsky.

Sadly, the last real book I read was in college for economics. $20 Per Gallon: How the Inevitable Rise in the Price of Gasoline Will Change Our Lives for the Better by Christopher Steiner.

I'm trying to get back into reading. I just bought Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson on a whim. Will probably read it next.

I'm currently reading The Goldfinch, but for some reason I can't remember the last book I actually finished reading fully.

"It's strangely fascinating, because in spite of the subject, he remains a gripping and engaging author. "

I've been reading a lot of science fiction lately (Harlan Ellison is the bomb, I love that grumpy old coot!) but my current favorite is Harmony by Project Itoh! It's very depressing
(and possibly upsetting for those who have dealt with depression and suicide, so warning there) but I highly recommend it. It's so breathtakingly beautiful, and the level of despair is something that only a dying man could understand. And Itoh finished the book on his deathbed, too...there's an anime movie on Harmony, but I haven't seen it yet.

On a similar note, Harlan Ellison's new introduction for his short story collection Paingod and Other Delusions is one of the most beautiful things I've ever read. The collection is centered around the theme of pain, but...it's just...something that really helped me in a tough time. I love Harlan so much.

"God help the child" by Toni Morrison and "Orange is the new black" by Piper Kerman. Toni Morrison is a gem. Her writing style is easy to follow and her use of similes is genius. I am her fan now.

Right now, I am reading "The Revenant" and "Golden Compass".
