Shadow of the Hegemon by Orson Scott Card (part of the Shadow series in the Enderverse). Not quite finished yet, but liking it just as much as I have the first two I've read.
I just finished Kazuo Ishiguro's The Remains of the Day. It's one of the most calming explorations of the meaning of an individual's life that I've read. It's quintessentially English, but the acknowledgement of that makes it open minded and gives it a gently mocking, reflective tone. I loved it.
The Remains of the Day is one of the books I could easily re-read several times. Loved reading it. Finished reading a short story collection entitled You Do Understand, written by Slovenian author Andrej Blatnik. Most of the stories fit on one page. Some are written in two lines. It was definitely an interesting read, and some of the stories brought out the theme of the stories quite well: the wants and needs to people, and how they at times go unacknowledged or are not understood by the people around us.
the last book I read was "fairest of all" its the background story of the evil queen (from snowwhite and the seven dwarfs and regina . its a very good story, in fact, one of my favorites)
untamed, its a really good vampire book about magical elemental powers and an evil queen that is also high pristies and a former vampire school principle.
Dark places by Gillian Flynn. So scary (and trust me I don't have a weak stomach but satanic sacrifices give me the chills) and so depressing. But it was a pretty good mystery. I would recommend it.
Finders Keepers was a fun sequel, but if you read it now it'll be another year for the final in the trilogy. :/
Tell that to George RR Martin fans. Actually just started Mr. Mercedes myself. What'd you think? Working on several books at once. I've been busy so not a lot of time for reading but as of right now, working through Mr. Mercedes, Bad Monkey (Carl Hiassen), Life of Pi, and 'Salem's Lot.
