"Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire. Not what I expected, but still great, nonetheless.

Wasn't it a quartet? There are some prequels for the Ender's game series, in addition to the parallel Shadow series. Good series IMHO. Too bad the author is an outspoken homophobe.

La Nuit du Carrefour by Georges Simenon - Looked forward to reading this for a long time, initially after seeing the film adaptation by one of my favorite directors [which I'd highly recommend to anyone who likes older, French and/or Noir-ish films] but even moreso after getting into Simenon's work which I've enjoyed very much so far. Having seen the film meant that I didn't absorb the book as much as his other novels, even the Maigret stories, but regardless this is probably one of if not my favorite entry in the series. As with any other work by the author I've admired the sense of atmosphere conveyed so tersely through clear, though not simple, language which somehow makes everything all the more mysterious.

  19. Boom!: Talking About the Sixties: What Happened, How It Shaped Today, Lessons for Tomorrow

    by Tom Brokaw

It's a book about the sixties and it's impact on society today. It had some numerous interviews from people who lived in that time and their opinions on the things they experienced. That book kind of made me start looking up more interesting history books.
