I also highly recommend The Kite Runner. There's even a graphic novel adaptation, if people are so inclined.

As brilliantly profound as any of his other works. Reading it all in Russian.

I'm in love with John Grisham and I am going through his books. The last book that I read was Skipping Christmas by John Grisham. Currently, I am reading The Last Juror by John Grisham. Almost finished, too!

Finished Balzac's Le Père Goriot earlier today, just took a week to read [which, for me, is fairly quick] and while I haven't read a huge amount of literature, this is certainly one of the most memorable reading experiences I've had, at least this year. Considering when this was written, the energy of his prose seems especially remarkable to me. While there are the occaisional 'long-winded' descriptions or monologues, the shifts in time and location without skipping are somewhat jarring. And of course this isn't even touching upon his examination of social power, manipulation, the influence of money among so many different classes of Parisian life which he, and this novel, are particularly known for.

For the time being, I'd consider this one of my very favorite novels.

Just finished The Inferno by Dante Alighieri, and am currently on 77 Shadow Street by Dean Koontz (perhaps my favorite author.) And how can you hate Jane Austen? Lol, I don't understand it. I'm the first to reject a sappy love story in a movie, but books really speak to me. Pride & Prejudice is my favorite story of all time so far, although The Hunger Games trilogy was pretty good.

Just finished reading When the Emperor Was Divine by Julie Otsuka.

The novel is set in the United States during World War Two, and follows a Japanese family's ordeal with being separated, and sent to internment camps in Utah and New Mexico.

I've been rereading To Kill a Mockingbird. It's one of my favorites, but there are no copies in my house without a few pages missing or the cover torn (darn older siblings not taking care of their belongings).

My dad loves the movie, but he's never read the book! I ordered the hardcover 50th anniversary version for him for his birthday in a few weeks. I want to write a quote from Atticus in the front cover, although I'm not sure which line to use yet.

I just finished reading The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear in the Kingkiller Chronicles and they are very good. I can't wait for the next book.
