Wow-that was really brave of you.
I don't know if I have the guts to tell my mom.

Oh, not at all. I'm using a really slow computer right now, and too many animations start to slow it down. The intent is appreciated.

But wow...was it really that good of a coming out? I really don't think I could have asked for more (other than "Really, me too!", but that's a stretch), but looking at the responses I guess it really did go better than I had planned.

Of course, now I have to find a way to get rid of the sketchpad. My grandmother (the mom I just came out to's mom) rifles through the whole house weekly in an effort to clean up the place (even though it's not that bad) and while I'm glad that she wants to help, I'd rather her not stumble upon my stuff. She visits my lesbian aunt and her partner regularly, and she helped the same aunt through her breakup a few years ago, but I'm not ready for her to know yet. Any ideas on how to get rid of this thing, other than burning or shredding?

Congrats from here too! Why don't you keep it? Put it somewhere nobody will find it.
I'd keep it as a coming out memento! Years from now,you can look at it,smile & remember!

    Aliens through the window? Really?

I was always scared of Mr. Smith (from The Matrix, which i watched at much too young an age) coming through the wall.

Yep, and it goes farther than that. When I was still very young, probably five and under, I couldn't decide which side of my body to sleep on because one direction faced the window, which I was afraid aliens would use to enter the house, and the other side faced the door, where I though burglars or zombies or something would come through. I remember pulling my whole body under the covers one night and sleeping with my eyes peeking out because I couldn't decide which was worse, aliens or robbers.

Well, when i was young, i was under the impression that if you couldn't see them, they couldn't see you. So I'd sleep with my face covered with the blanket. ONLY my face, because if i was entirely covered, it was too hot to sleep. It really freaked out my mom, apparently.

Plus, I'm scared to walk near tall building in the night, on the grounds that ninjas might jump down and attack me.

Ha...I used to do that. Except I had a window on one side, door on the other, closet at the end of my bed, and a window just behind my head. I don't know how I used get to sleep:lol:

Woh, such a good story, I liked how you used the pad, such a unique thing! I'm really happy for you!
    More dancing bananas! (!)(!)(!)

Don't get rid of it! There's bound to be somewhere that she doesn't clean, like a filling cabinet, lose floorboard, back of the cupboard... How about your mum keeping it? She’ll have a place that Grandma doesn’t go… just keep the thing! It'll be great to look back on...

I was thinking about letting my mom take it to her apartment - the only visitors she gets are my father, sister, and myself. My grandmother refuses to even go see the apartment because she's still mad that my mom moved out. She thinks that my mom deserted the family or something, but she's still doing her job. Maybe now I'll get some of that masculine influence I subconsciously crave and desire.

Three days later, I have a good report. I sent my mom the article that I posted over at Chit Chat, about the radical conservatives who distributed letters saying that gay marriage would be nationally legalized and the Boy Scouts disbanded if Obama were elected. She responded with the following message:

Yeah, I don't think it could have gone better. Again, I want to thank EC for all its support, and I hope all those who are able to come out and feel comfortable coming out, do come out. It's an incredible feeling to finally have the weight off and be accepted honestly. I wish the best to everyone.
