I'm in the University of Southern California Trojan Marching Band (aka The Spirit of Troy). I play second trumpet, which is better than first! We just had our second home-game tonight (well, technically last night). We played "Power" by David Conte, the Rocky theme song, and the 1984 Olympic Fanfare and Theme by John Williams. We played that last song to commemorate the 30 present and past (but still alive) USC Olympians. USC Olympians won 21 medals (9 gold, 10 silver, 2 bronze) just at the 2008 Olympics.

    Woops!

    I kinda got off topic.

But for our next show (next saturday, against Arizona State University), we're playing Radio/Video by System of a Down, The Pretender by Foo Fighters, and Ain't Nothing Wrong With That by Robert Randolph and the Family Band.

Its gonna be fun, and its fun to be a member of THE GREATEST MARCHING BAND IN THE HISTROY (<intentional mistake, see if you get it) OF THE UNIVERSE!!!

I love band, I can play a multitude of instruments up to like a 6th grade level. In a past life I was a music education major in college, and took all the methods classes. So here it goes: flute, clarinet, trombone, horn, viola, cello, a little percussion, a little piano, and major on the trumpet.

No trombones here? I skimmed so I probably missed them; but yeah, I play Trombone and Euphonium. I also think band is God's second son.

I was a band geek for 5 years in high school. Alto sax and and a horrible attempt at trumpet at the end. Now I'm just a regular geek. I haven't played an instrument in years... man I miss the bus rides.

It doesn't matter; whatever does just gets stopped by the hand.

That's why we march mels. :3

I don't understand the abundance of oboe on this website. Can you please head towards our school? We currently only have a quarter of an oboe player.

IT DOES NOT EVEN REACH THE HAND!!! (much less get stopped by it, who would do that)
The amount of times I've said that is crazy!
It generally pools in either tunning slide (about 50 cm from the mouth piece, as opposed the the whole 12 odd feet of tubing there is from mouthpiece to bell) or the third slide on the "b flat" side (I play a double horn)...
The only time it EVER comes out the bell is when you play for an hour without emptying it (which is hard to do because it sounds horrible!) and then leave it for a while and try to play again later, then you get wet... Also, even then, your hands don't get wet unless you have really poor hand positioning, you hand goes at the top of the bell, not shoved inside or at the bottom, if you are sitting, your right thigh well get dripped on, if you are standing, the floor will get wet...

I'm sorry if that came across as rude, it just gets kinda frustrating, lol

I've played horn before... it's okay... calm down. It was just a joke about oboe players...
