Pop, Electro and Indie. Ideally, a combination of those three

Pop
Rock
Indie
Jazz (not smooth jazz)
Classical (and Romantic, Baroque, etc etc)
Easy Listening (yes, the hardcore stuff)

I'm a lot pickier when it comes to:

country (I prefer old stuff)
hip-hop (prefer older and underground)
iRock (Breathe Carolina)
punk (old school and pop-punk)
goth (quieter slower stuff)
world (I like what I call "loincloth" music - the rawer stuff, the better)

I tend to listen to music that not a lot of people I know listen to.

J-pop (Aya Hirano, I've Sound, May'n, KOKIA, Yuna Itou, Maaya Sakamoto, many others)
J-rock (FLOW, Tsukiko Amano, 9mm Parabellum Bullet, Boom Boom Satellites, Hyde)
Anime OSTs (Yuki Kajiura, Yoko Kanno, Michiru Oshima to name a few composers)
Video game OSTs (Lost Odyssey, Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, anything by Nobuo Uematsu)
Speed Metal (preferably no lyrics, just want to concentrate on the beat)
Punk Rock (Bad Religion, Theory of a Deadman Gasoline Album)
Trance
Techno
Some hip-hop
Pop

I'd really like to be more of a music buff, but since my brother basically tried to force me to like his music I was discouraged from taking an interest in it.

Pop, indie, acoustic pop, experimental pop, Europop, soft rock... I listen to quite a lot of stuff though, I'm sure I have some hip hop, R&B, and punk rock on my iPod... they're just not my preferred genres...

Garage Rock (revival period)- The Hives, Jet, The Hellacopters, The Vines

Punk/Punkabilly- The Living End, Green Day can be mixed in there as well

Ska- Reel Big Fish, Smash Mouth, Area 7

Australian/Pub Rock (Alternative??)- Midnight Oil, Taxiride, INXS

Rap- (the original rap) Run DMC, Sugarhills Gang!
and most stuff that came out between 1997 and 2002 (before hip-hop and rap really started to make a move on the music scene)

There is lots but i can't be arsed listing more

Wow, we have really similar taste right now  I love La Roux's album, it's fresh! Kind of disappointed by Hands, but I still love Little Boots.

And I adore Santigold and really like Cut Copy and Lady Gaga.

A really eclectic mix. I like things from almost all genres really, heavy metal and rap are the only ones I tend to avoid.

- Musicals (All of Jason Robert Brown's and Pasek & Paul's things are great,) especially THIS:

- I like some rock/indie stuff, as long as its not too full-on (things like Snow Patrol, BSS, Bloc Party).

(can't be bothered to find examples for all of them lol)

- I like the whole female-singer-songwriter genre (Maria Mena, Regina Spektor, Vienna Teng (LOVE!), Charlotte Martin)

- My favourites are more electronica-indie-dancey things (Imogen Heap, Róisín Murphy, Moloko, Psapp).

- I actually have started listening to a bit of "classical" music (but not Baroque or Classical, only Romantic and 20th Century people like Prokofiev and Hindemith).

- I have a newfound love for nuevo tango because of Ástor Piazzolla as well.

So yeah... I listen to a lot of music!

I'm into quite a bit of stuff, really. Most of the genres on my PSP though are:

-Goth and Deathrock (Siouxsie and the Banshees/Specimen/The Cure/45 Grave/etc)
-Punk (Mostly local bands, but I have Bad Religion/The Briggs/Rudimentary Peni)
-Industrial (Alien Sex Fiend/K.M.F.D.M./NIN/Executive Slacks)
-Alternative (Placebo/Pixies/Eels/Echo & The Bunnymen/The Creatures/Dido/etc)
-Video Games ((Akira Yamaoka is god) Silent Hill and Final Fantasy)

Can't say I like Metal much. . .or at all, really. Trip-Hop is something I've been getting into recently, as well as Psychobilly and Rockabilly. I have been known to listen to Pop when the mood strikes, or even old school Rap. Depends.
