As someone who is coming to terms with there sexuality. I was wondering for those who are in relationships. When you introuce your significant other to someone. How do you introduce them as your partner or boyfriend??

The way i look at it is:

Boyfriend - Some guy i have been going out with and like a lot. But dont want to spend the rest of my life with

Partner - The equivilent of a loving marriage. You love your partner so much that you want to be with them for the rest of your life.

the way i look at it is a boyfriend or girlfriend is who your dating and a wife or husband is who your married too. partner sounds like a friend like a partner in crime, a business partner, someone you know but are not with.

I'd say boyfriend, although I've never had one.

I agree! All I can think of when I hear it is "sex partner".:icon_redf

  10. This was the first thing that popped into my head, too. I think that xxAngelOnFirexx pretty much summed up how I feel about the whole boyfriend / partner / husband debate.

I'd refer to my other half as my "boyfriend", just because I like the word...

I prefer boyfriend too. Partner just sounds less personal and more like a business arrangement to me.

ew i hate the term "partner" it's just.... like.... it seems 'less' than boyfriend or husband.
i'd like to use the same terms straight people do when refering to boyfriend, whether we're same-sex or not, please.

and of course... fiancee, then husband. or hubby, i like that.

to me, partner means business. i'm not in business with whomever i love

  17. I'm the same, partner to me sounds like you're working on a school project together. So I would use boyfriend or husband

Well, we both are well advanced in our adult lives, so boy neither of us are, so boyfriend just is not going to do it or even come close to it. Partner is more appropriate for what we have. We live together, work together, share together and have legal papers to cover various things that might come up should anything happen to one or the other. We decide together what needs to be done, yet we also allow for complete individual growth. We are open in all we do and work towards a common goal. If that isn't a partnership, I don't know what is. He is my partner in all things.

Boyfriend, then partner... or beloved, however sappy that sounds. I think "husband" is awful! If I wanted a husband I'd be a straight woman.

I actually kinda like the term "lover" which is more gay old school... it sounds serious yet somehow dirty--and really, sex is more fun when it's dirty.
