I've been tinkering with my facial hair as I've grown older and realized the clean cut "boy nextdoor" look might not necessarily be the best for me anymore. I have my own thoughts about what works best on the faces I tend to find attractive. I'm curious what other people around here think.
Heavy beard. Love hairy men, definitely my favorite aspect about my husband (apart from his personality, of course).
Admittedly this is based on the preferences of someone who has had zero experience (so far) with men..but I can't stand facial hair of any description. It baffles me why young men in particular grow beards and moustaches. I mean, beards automatically age you by at least five years! But hey, perhaps that's the idea...
I don't really like beards. I dislike the feel of beards. I prefer for it to be shaved. I do need to shave myself, which is why I have a preference. It's do to with my hormones. I hate it.
I think it really depends on how the beard looks. For sure a long unkempt beard isn't attractive. A trimmed beard that is taken care of looks good. But a clean shave looks good on pretty much everyone and it's easy to maintain. I also wonder how people manage to keep their beards clean, I got food stuck in my moustache a couple of times - not the best experience, lol. I find that not shaving facial hair frequently enough makes me have acne.
Facial hair is good, but whatever style, well trimmed is a must for me to appreciate it. I have a goatee that I keep neet and trimmed. I have had it go wild when I am lazy, but I hate it when I wake up and see it ike that. Same when I let the rest of my face grow wild. I had to shave down to a mustache a few weeks ago for an event. The second it was over I let it grow back. About a week of no shaving I had to shave everything but the goatee. I hated waiting that long, but had to so I could form/shape the goatee better.
Every lesbian I've ever met has had some kind of strong aversion to male facial hair. Almost exactly this same opinion. It makes perfect sense from where I'm sitting. If someone finds masculinity repulsive, facial hair will only make it worse, for sure.
Personally, my feeling is that if you have a bad face you can't go wrong. Go hog wild with the facial hair. Have fun with it. I'm not a big beard guy but some people are and you'll be their cup of tea. Short beards depend on the face. Some people have faces that work really well with them and I think most don't. I think most attractive guys who grow a beard are nerfing themselves by hiding their good face, but a percentage of them strike gold. I've seen some good looking beards and I respect people who have honed their art. Clean shaven is fine and very safe, but a bit vanilla. Stubble usually looks better than clean shaven to me. It's like a coat of paint it adds personality. A well done goatee is my favorite though. However, unlike the previous two, this one requires skill. I think most guys have one type of goatee that works well for them, and all others don't. You have to get it EXACTLY right for your type of face. If you get it wrong it's -3 and you look like a dork. If you get it right it's +0.5, so the risk/reward is dangerous and it's understandable that most guys play it safe going with clean shaven or stubble.
^ That would be part of it for me when I go on T and grow one. I have a baby face. I went to a big city on my twenty-first birthday to celebrate, and we went to a mall where no one under seventeen is allowed past a certain time (kind of weird in my opinion). A security guard stopped me and asked for some form of ID, he thought I was way younger than I am. I really wish I could pull off stubble, a goatee, mustache, or short beard- but my face is unfortunately really round (and it's not from being overweight or anything). I hate it- really hate it. So when I can finally grow a beard I guess I'm growing a ducktail beard.
Agreed. It took me a long while to find the right shape for me as well as the right length. I have seen many "mistakes". When I shaved for the event everyone was like what happened? Please tell me you aren't getting rid of it. Though in retrospect I wonder if it was because the goat was so good, or my face is so bad.
Maybe I am a lesbian, after all! (At the moment my libido has kinda shut down, temporarily, I hope). I can totally see how that's going to be affirming for you, Jack. I know a few trans guys with facial hair in my support group now and you would never guess that they were AFAB. Beth
I'm not attracted to Beards or any kind of Facial Hair for that matter, it just doesn't do anything for me personally.
I hope it doesn't come in super patchy or I don't have spots it just won't grow at first (likely the latter, that's how my brother was). I'll be pumped to see the changes, though I'll have to learn how to trim and shave (and take care of a full beard)... I'll be really excited for it though.
I've only ever had experience with stubble, which I find uncomfortable, I do however like a slightly longer well trimmed beard as long as it doesn't stray into wizard or Mr Twit territory.
It really depends on the guy and how well they can grow their facial hair. Some guys can grow great beards or mustaches, and others can not. Or you get the weird neck beard thing... Some guys just look good with facial hair and some don't. Like guys in a pop band maybe not, but old dudes getting into the santa clause or Gandolf age with great big beards, it works.
