What the English teacher says to Charlie, "We accept the love we think we deserve." Do you guys think that is true?
Yes, people stay in abusive relationships because we think it is the best that we can get and what we deserve.
It is some what true. Some people are unhappy in their relationships and stay, while others leave. Just like all the others here questioning their sexuality. Do they deserve to stay in a hetro relationship if they truely desire to be in a gay relationship seek it out. . I believe everyone questioning their sexuality is at least bi if not gay. No reason not to try it out. It could be the best thing that you ever experiance.
The statement was true for me when I was young and wounded. It was true until I began to learn to love myself and understood that I deserved someone who loved himself as well. I loved The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
For some people it is. I see this more among straight people. They make a lot of concessions and put up with more than they should as they get older. In LGB folks - not intending to exclude other sexualities - I don't think it's as true because people are more likely to idealize and to hold out, and keep on holding out.
