"How do you know you're gay if you haven't been with a woman?" "So, you want to get a sex change?" "You're too good looking to be gay." Anything else to add?
"How can you prefer ___ to ___?!" "Which is the man or the woman?" "Its not natural" "Just pick a side!" or "Bisexuality doesn't exist" "I have no issue with gay people/You do you" then follows up by saying something homophobic
"It is just a phase" "Lesbian sex isn't real sex." "You're probably straight. You just haven't met the right [insert opposite sex from]"
"Yes, I support you! But are you sure it's not a phase?" "You are just confused and you need an idinity and you'll find your way back one day."
"No, I know your lesbian. But I know in a few years you'll find a handsome man and you will wonder how did you ever choose this?" "Why would you choose to go against God?!" "Wait if you like girls, does mean you like me?" "Bi people are just people who are secretly gay." "Non-binary people don't exist." "If you like girls, does that make you transgender?"
my friend said #1. I keep telling myself #2. Before I used to say #4. I heard a group of guys asking a gay guy #5.
To be fair, there is some of this that can come from the LGBT community as well. Internalized homophobia and transphobia are a product of upbringing from which we are not immune. Still, having to unlearn all that stuff is a huge help in the self-awareness department, so it's not *as* bad as the stuff that straight people say.
Agreed. Though a lot of it is unintentional, yeah? There have been a very gay people who I have spoken to places and I have tried to relate to them and they are like ‘well, you wouldn’t understand because homophobic people like you more because you are also open to dating guys’ . And I am like, I have it worse right now because not only do homophobic people not accept me but some gay people don’t. No one has ever been that rude on here though.
"If you like girls now, why did you date that boy?" "You always liked ___ when you were younger." Or my personal favorite when I was dating a girl, "Ya'll want a plus one?"
A good response I once heard was "Eve was made from Adam's DNA so no it isn't Adam and Steve, that's her dead name"
