In foreign music, I love korean, Chinese, Japanese and Spanish songs.

This one below is an old but a song that took a special place in my heart. I just heard it from the FM again today.

I like the chinese tunes and the japanese tunes. They seem so traditional and raw, and even though I don't understand the language, the tunes reach me.

You ever heard of either Eisbrecher or Megaherz? I recommend both of them if you haven't; their music is freaking awesome.

Heeeey, I found another of my people. I am absolutely in love with that man's voice. :heart_eyes_cat:

I find that if a song sung in English sounds instrumentally good but has bad lyrics then it puts me off. But foreign lyrics don't bother me even if the translation seems odd because I just accept that as some kind of cultural difference and enjoy the sound over the lyrics.

I don't seek out music in other languages, nor do I have a favorite foreign song, but I enjoy occasionally not being distracted by trying to understand lyrics.

I often seek out music in foreign languages. In many of these songs, the language becomes an instrument itself; I don't need to understand what it means to appreciate it.

A beautiful song in Scottish Gaelic:

In the Philippines, apart from songs in English and Filipino (and other local dialects), music from Korea made a huge impact from the late 2000s till present. Mandarin songs from China and Taiwan also made it big in the early 2000s. Japanese pop also made waves, especially with a huge anime culture in the country.

Latin music has always had a huge influence in the Philippines as we were a colony of Spain for over three centuries. from our local folk songs and dances to the invasion of Latinovelas (and their catchy themes) to the sexy Latin beats that hit the country every summer. Most of which are from Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Colombia.

In the 90s and early 2000s, French music started to make its way on the scene. In the southern parts of the country, Malaysian and Indonesian music also made their mark.

I don't like rap, but these three are my exceptions.

the thing is, I understand the language. more or less. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I listen to French music. Especially rap. I can understand about half of it, but even if I couldn’t, the language is f-ing beau❤️, so yes, i love listening to it even when it’s in un- understandable.

I enjoy listening to Russian music like Polina Gagarina, Elena Temnikova etc. Recently I stumbled upon Danheim which is Norse-based. I have a few songs I listen to from other countries but I don't listen to them as much.

If I don't understand the lyrics, I at least want to have a general understanding of the song. Though with the exception of a few bands and Vocaloid stuff, most of what I listen to is in English anyways/ (even from foreign bands).

I would rather hear the music with the original lyrics no matter what language they are in, then have bands bend the knee and sing in English just to cater to the people in the US.

I've found songs in various languages mostly from Eurovision (we watched some of it and voted on the songs in foreign language classes when I was in high school) and my favorite artist is Yuliya Savicheva. A lot of the Eurovision songs and Russian pop songs in general are good though, imo.
