It's unfortunate that some of your extended family members have shown that they might not be accepting. Plus, teasing and depending on the context can definitely be misplaced. It sounds like that giving it a bit more time makes sense. Hopefully though you'll be able to speak with your family afterwards. (*hug*)

After some complicated-ness, I'm officially starting a long term sub in my alma mater's English department (for one of my former teachers) in the beginning of February until the end of the year. AND that teacher is leaving teacher so the position will be opening up...which is very exciting and now I have to work even harder for this.

I'm sad that I'll be leaving the kids I'm teaching now two weeks earlier than planned, but there's no way I could turn this opportunity down when it was offered to me.

This is pretty cool @Chierro . I am really happy for you. The long-term sub can and in all likelihood will open doors down the road. If they do end up opening up the position, I really do hope that you will submit an application and will have a permanent position thereafter.

I'm doing quite well. I'm sure you'll be able open the doors completely down the road.

Thanks Mirko! I'll definitely be submitting an application should the position open up (which, from my understanding...it should). The district also has a good track record with hiring long term subs, so I'm thrilled about this opportunity.

I'm in my 4th year of college and some of my friends and acquaintances are posting on social media about the cool jobs they have landed for after graduation. I have to stay an extra year after all my friends graduate because I failed out of my old major (nursing) and had to choose a new one. I like my new major much better, and I'm mad at myself for feeling this way, but I feel bitter and jealous.

Especially when I see posts from people I did nursing with. That was my dream, and I wasn't good enough to make it happen. It makes me feel like a stupid loser. I know I'm just being silly, and most of the time I feel fine about it, but I hate that my self esteem is so fragile that seeing other people (who I really am happy for) makes me feel this way.

I can relate to this. I graduated with a degree and I do not work in that field. I use many of the skills thay I learned in college but I do not actually work in the field that I studied. So, it is really odd to see friends post jobs that they are doing. I also had a lot of questions from my family when I started this job. It sounds like failing out allowed you to find something that better suited you. We all have our dreams and sometimes those don't work out for some reason or another. What really matters is what you do to recover from this. It sounds like you have recovered well, and that you are studing a field that you like. There is no failure in that, you have learned and progressed, even if it is with a new major.

I'm at the Secretary of State to get my driver's license renewed and not only is the line out the door, but there are 90 people ahead of me. I'm going to be here awhile.

Went to a drag queen show at a gay club. Was pulled on stage by a drag queen. Shirt disappeared, somehow ended up dancing with a 7 foot tall drag queen on stage in front of 100 people. New skill acquired: sensually dancing with a purple boa.

    What is my life?
