    University assignments in a nutshell:

*Vague outline of what you're going to do*

    Required reading:

    Three things.

    Suggested:

    Two pages of books.

I mean, maybe I'll read one of them over the summer. But does anyone actually read most of them? Who has the time? I'm struggling to get through the required stuff, never mind any extras. So much of it is mind numbing theory that over complicates concepts that should be simple.

Nothing is better than suddenly finding out you are allergic to something because you have an extreme reaction. Ended up at the ER. I'm fully convinced that my body hates me.

I completely feel this. Some of my professors must have their own personal library or something because it's ridiculous that they're even aware of the existence of so many academic books, let alone knowing all their names and content to list them.

My neuroscience teacher literally has over 200 research articles that are 10+ pages each under the suggested reading of the syllabus. Like... our entire textbook is only 700 pages and you want me to read 2,000 more in my free time.....

I'm a Secondary Ed--English major with most of my courses having been English courses...and even I never did the suggested reading. I never came across many professors who had stuff listed but pretty much unless they required it, I was not going out of my way to find something and read something that I most likely would not be interested in. Typically, though, a lot of it is just stuff that isn't crucial to understanding the course but if you read it, you might understand things better or in a different way.

    But, yeah, no.

Most professors do have their own personal libraries. My ed and English ones typically all had their offices stacked with books no matter how small the office. Honestly, the professors I judged the most were the ones who didn't have personal libraries and just very sparse offices.

I have never come across a professor or academic who didn't have their own personal library. One of my friends who was a lecturer, had amazing wall to wall, floor to ceiling bookshelves filled with books. Every time she designed a course, or selected readings for a revised course syllabus, she would go to her shelves and pick out the appropriate readings. If she didn't have something, she would order a copy to include in her library. One of my favourite authors who was an academic before starting to write literature, Umberto Eco, had a personal library in the city of Milan, Italy containing more than 10,000 books. This is what it looked like:

Found a 15 year old gift card in my wallet today. The restaurant still accepted it. Today's been a good day.

I’m thinking about how much progress and self acceptance I have made in such a short time. I’m embracing my bisexuality, which I get to define, no one else.

That's pretty neat; great that you are embracing your sexual orientation.

I just had a random thought while I was in the shower lol. If getting a vasectomy would get my parents off my back about getting married and having kids later in life, permanently.

It's Saturday night (my Saturday, anyways) and I'm bored. I'm not supposed to be bored on a Saturday.

That's a good idea, though, I might just end up personalizing some hand towels or something with their wedding date. My parents were thinking of just giving them some money for something they want, or didn't get, or to put towards.

I need to get out of this job. Everybody (minus 1 guy) I work with is chill, the work isnt THAT bad, but it's so fucking mind-numbing and unfufilling. At the very least I wanna have a co-worker I can laugh with all shift.

Are there some jobs you could try applying to? Ones that you would find a bit more fulfilling or at least something that would give you some motivation?

that moment when you're in a relationship, then whilst talking to a really good friend, you realise you're the perfect guy for him, and yet you're taken (so far). its kind of sad.
