Hmm, I've only really seen Rent (does that count? lol). Ahhh, but what's really frustrating is that I REALLY wanted to see a Kenyan LGBT+ film called "Rafiki" about these two girlfriends who form a pact together but alas, it never came to theaters in the USA and apparently, it was only available to view in a select few festivals, none of which were hosted in the US I think. That's such a frickin' bummer because it looked! So good! That, and the two female leads were cute as all get out, haha

Hey everyone, just watched a really charming movie! Handsome Devil on Netflix (in the UK, but it's available in other countries). About LGBT friendship in Ireland - anyone else checked it out??

Just watched Below Her Mouth on Netflix! I LOVED it. Sexiest lesbian movie ever. I actually watched it twice within a two day period. Erika Linder is my new obsession.

Has anyone seen 'The Miseducation of Cameron Post'? I remember stumbling across a review a few weeks ago and wanting to read it, but my library doesn't have it :slight_frown: Then some of my friends brought it up today, and discussed how it's not available in any cinemas around here, despite having just been released.

I watched Porcupine Lake the other day and thought it was a well made, honest coming of age film.

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but I enjoy a coming-of-age French film called "Tomboy". It's about a 10 year old girl who dresses like a boy, and has a boy hairstyle, and when her family moves to a new town, she introduces herself to her new friends as a boy. A mutual crush develops between her and a girl just a few years older than her.

    Lately I watched:
Becks: Really good. Lead actress has a ton of charisma and really helped grounding the story.
The Miseducation of Cameron Post: It was pretty good but I felt it could have gone deeper and harsher into how truly awful a conversion therapy camp must be, they seemed to shy away from that a little.
Axolotl Overkill: Almost too crazy but totally enjoyable.
Duck Butter: A lot of this movie hit really close to home. An entire relationship condensed into 24h time span was such a good concept and really well executed.
The Feels: This also hit close to home with a few things, the dynamics between all the characters was super well done, it made for a fun little hopeful film.

I do sincerely hope we get more queer movies that don't have a bummer ending tho.

I saw "Carol." Mostly, I liked it. There were also parts of it that ran flat, as in not much oomph. I think it was supposed to take place in the same time period, but "Far From Heaven" ran at a more intense pitch. You just understood the character development of all the protagonists more. The ending was to be expected and the friend I saw it with leaned over and said to me, 'I give it 4 months.' Both movies got good reviews.

I recently rented Saving Face. I really liked it because it was a happy ending. The YouTube channel GirlshipTV watched it with the two leads which made me want to see the movie.

Holding the man and Call me by your name are my favorites, but I'm sure someone before me has mentioned them

The first time I saw any gay person of South Asian ancestry was My Beautiful Laundrette. It was playing late on TV, so I didn't even know what it was called until recently. It's funny that this film came out in 1985, back when interracial romance, let alone gay interracial romance, was still rare.

Just posted about a new movie I highly recommend - The Miseducation is Cameron Post. A teenage girl who gets sent to a church-sponsored conversion therapy camp. Well acted and engaging.

I enjoyed Theo and Hugo. It's a French film that came out about three years ago. It has a rather steamy opening scene (at a sex club) but has a sweet story about two guys who meet for sex but develope a deeper relationship. It has subtitles though.

There's far too many replies to read them all. I've mentioned it elsewhere, but "Love, Simon" is freaking fantastic. It's coming of age teen stuff. But it's real. It certainly helped me in coming out to more people. To me, at least at this stage, thats what a good LGBT movie ought to be. One that helps people come out which is the hardest effing thing, especially for young people.

Just finished watching this movie! I agree. It has a really positive theme. Lately I’ve been watching anything and everything to help me process thru my own story. Alex Strangelove is also very good and surprisingly funny!

By far one of the better movie I've watched in a while... watched it on a plane and was crying. Also love that it's a good ending. I wonder if there are any recent lesbian movies are are like that, fun, light-hearted rom-com? Only one I can think of is 'I can't think straight' and 'Imagine you and me'...
