It's home, I have a lot of childhood memories here. So I think I will always feel a fondness for this place. But do I want to stay here forever? Absolutely not. The town I live in is way too small and way too conservative for me. I am looking forward to moving.

I have done the same with Europe my entire life! Particularly England. I have wanted to live there since I was a little girl. I lobe everything about it. But yeah, I probably am romanticizing it.

I love Massachusetts. It's very accepting of LGBT people, everything is nearby, and it's just great in general.

But I also hate Massachusetts. I hate being in one place for a long time and love to travel. Plus I absolutely hate the weather here. But, it seems like every good place is cold.

Depends what you consider good. I'm originally from Ohio but live in Florida now, and Florida is amazing compared to the north. It's like the entire rest of the country combined into one place because of people moving here plus awesome beaches and warm weather.

Culturally North Florida is 'the south' like Alabama and Georgia. The panhandle is like Texas/Louisiana and the southwest. Central Florida has a Midwestern vibe, and south Florida is a combination of northeastern, Californian and international culture mostly. There's literally a place for anyone here.

The summers kinda suck because of humidity but the rest of the year the weather's great.

I live in Northwest Florida and have all my life. Other than it's all I know, I wouldn't have chosen to live here. It's far too hot in the summer even where I am.

The funny thing I've noticed is almost every Florida native says exactly that and that they wouldn't have chosen to live here, but most of the people who moved here from other places love this place. You guys are used to the weather and beaches, but try dealing with 10 degree weather having to shovel the driveway and wait for snowplows to clear the roads just to go the grocery store for 4 months of the year and the Florida heat won't seem so bad anymore

Since you said you're in the Northwest, hi from Tallahassee!

The grass is often greener. People who move to my hometown often like it, too, and don't know why us "born and raised" people talk about it so badly. And when I lived in the Midwest, I never dealt with the things you're talking about, other than the 10 degrees (and lower). I know people who had to shovel driveways, but it was never one of my duties. :stuck_out_tongue: And I love 10 degree weather and tons of snow for 4+ months as opposed to Southern heat and thunderstorms/flooding/tornado threats every other day this time of the year for a good 3 or so months.

Hi to you too! I understand about the snow thing. I do see how that would get old after a while.

This. I agree about grass is greener. I would gladly deal with colder weather in exchange for less heat.

It's only an hour away. Same state. But when I graduate I definitely hope to move elsewhere.

I can relate! It was pretty nice in the summer where I lived before, but now (in the Middle-East) the summer is so hot! It's summer year-round, then scorching desert in June, July, and August. Spending time outdoors here in the summer is not a thing.
I definitely don't miss the blizzards and long winters from back home, though. I'd love to find something in between!

I can't stand Asheville. Its nothing but breweries and bars, and that's all so many people talk about. Add on top of that, the weather here is mental, winters are surprisingly long and cold, and it takes a roller coaster before it warms for the summer.

    I wasn't finished

Anyway, There is no spring, its ridiculously cold for 3 days, and then steaming for 2 or 3 days, then snowing again! its ridiculous. It reminds me of a senile old man.

Where I live in Philadelphia is interesting. It's kind of between the city and the suburbs. It's quiet enough to be a nice little neighborhood, but it's also close to numerous businesses and one of the biggest traffic arteries in Northeast Philly.

Weather is okay. We get all four seasons. However, the majority of the families where I live are older couples or couples with really young kids. I don't see many people around my age.

Also not alot of LGBT activity that I'm aware of. That's more prominent in Center City (Downtown Philly).

*shrugs* It's aight. Hard to say, since I've never lived elsewhere. Would love to see the world, though it seems most who do eventually end up coming back!

No because too many bad memories are tied to it lately. Also I can't wait to move out of my parents' house.

I think another thing is it is assumed if you live in Florida you're a beach bum. I don't like the beach though and rarely go. I'm not a fan of sand or salty water. I would much rather go swim in a nice cool river.

I also hate how even though I'm fortunate to not live farther south where it's even hotter, northern Florida is very conservative. Most of the liberal LGB friendly people live down south. Up here are just a bunch of bible thumpers and a church on every corner.
